New Roster Additions Coming Soon?
Can you discuss the roster move you made yesterday?
“Yesterday on gameday we waived Rob Ninkovich and brought Tyler Palko up to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, dressing him for the game. At that time, there were a couple of thoughts behind it. It allowed us to have a third quarterback, but if that was just the case, I would have done that at the onset. There’s more to it and it affects our roster in the days to come. The next time we’re with each other, you might have a better idea of the direction we’re headed. We made the change with him (Ninkovich) being waived yesterday and Palko going to the 53-man roster.” New Orleans Saints - Coach Payton Q-A Ok we got 1)Freddie T rumor out there involving the Rams. 2)We have an open spot on the PS 3) 3 QB's on the active roster 4) New De signed and one cut What kind of package deals do we think we might get? What possible positions? This should help kill the time till the next game. I am wondering how big it maybe. Remember the quote "The next time we’re with each other, you might have a better idea of the direction we’re headed" So start guessing |

Re: New Roster Additions Coming Soon?
Packers Needs a RB with all the injuries.
Another hot name is New Orleans Saints rookie Pierre Thomas, an undrafted free agent from Illinois. In the Saints' last two preseason games, Thomas carried 27 times and gained 171 yards (a 6.3-yard average). The Saints have Deuce McAllister, Reggie Bush and rookie fourth-round pick Antonio Pittman on their roster. They also have Ashwaubenon native Aaron Stecker, who is more of a returner and special-teams player than a running back. "It looks like it's going right down to the wire," Thomas' agent, Reginald Blackwell, said Friday afternoon. "Obviously, (the Saints) want to keep him on their practice squad, but they don't want to take the chance of cutting him and letting someone else pick him up. I know the Packers initially had some interest (in Thomas) when he first came out after the draft, but they didn't pull the trigger." San Francisco - The Broncos spent Monday continuing to work the phones in an attempt to trade veteran defensive tackle Gerard Warren. Warren declined to comment, but acknowledged he expects to be traded as soon as today. Teams most interested in Warren appear to be Washington, New Orleans and Tennessee. Indianapolis and the New York Giants declined initial overtures from the Broncos. |

Re: New Roster Additions Coming Soon?
other trade baits out there:
jets The Jets are rumored to be interested in Broncos RB Mike Bell. ... Veteran TE Sean Ryan might be on the trading block. ... The Jets continue to eye the veteran left-guard market. Dolphins Wide receiver Chris Chambers, the Dolphins' No. 1 pass-catcher, is reportedly on the trading block, a move that could signal the growing confidence in the development of first-round draft pick Ted Ginn Jr. as a wide receiver." Redskins "There are several veteran wide receivers who have been released in recent days -- including Keenan McCardell, who nearly signed here before camp -- but the agents for several of those players said most teams are waiting until after Week 1 to sign their clients as in most cases their base salaries become guaranteed if they are on the Week 1 roster, but not if they sign after that point. Receivers like McCardell, Doug Gabriel and Clarence Moore are likely to be more attractive to teams a week from now." Seahawks Seattle Times: "The Seahawks and the Washington Redskins are believed to have talked about Brunell, now a 36-year-old backup in Washington. The Washington Post reported Friday the Seahawks inquired Thursday about Brunell." Steelers Pittsburgh Tribune Review: "The signing of Simmons to a long-term contract makes it all the more unlikely that the Steelers will get a deal done with Faneca, their starting left guard. There other teams looking for the player we added but who knows. Faneca gets my #1 vote. pipe dream yes but it some good stuff to smoke. I will wake up tomorrow and know it was all a pleasant trip. Chambers is a bad trip. |

Re: New Roster Additions Coming Soon?
You have to look at team needs. I would say trade P. Thomas to Denver for Warren and trade F. Thomas to St Louis for any veteran cornerback and yes that means even Fakhir Brown. I would rather Fakhir than Thomas anyday of the week. We also need to trade one of our tighends to another team for possibly another cornerback prospect or a late draft pick next year. I don't think any other tight end is going to catch too much as long as Eric stays healthy. I just think we are a couple of players away for really having a good defense and let's stop all this man to man bullcrap. We don't have the freakin personell Sean. I would sign Tank Johnson ASAP.
I think we may need to trade off some depth in some areas to at least get all serviceable starters on defense. Jason David gets one more chance and if he gets burned again I say cut his butt or stop the man to man all together. |

Re: New Roster Additions Coming Soon?
I think Warren is a definite possibility. Not sure Fakhir is an improvement, plus I believe he is out right now?
You have to figure the only raeson Fred T was inactive for the Colts game was to avoid injury so he could be traded. No, he is not a fan favorite, but is ceratinly good enough to make the active roster. Not sure how much Pierre brings in trade value, but I know we won't get anything for the TE's. The position is a dime a dozen and the guys we have were FA pick ups last year. Maybe a 7th or a throw in in another deal. |

Re: New Roster Additions Coming Soon?
Who the heck would trade anything for Fred Thomas??? I wouldn't even give you a bag a chips for Fred Thomas.
I would have considered trading Deuce if Pittman worked out but we all know how that turned out. |
