Where is Brian Simmons?
I'm starting a Simoneau on the bench campaign. From the Saints Bio:
Simmons: One of the club’s top free-agent signings of the offseason, Simmons is expected to bolster the interior of the defense. Entering his 10th NFL season, he has been a force on the second tier of the defense with his hard-nosed play since being a first-round pick of Cincinnati in 1998. Simmons can fill against the run, has the speed to range from sideline to sideline and has been extremely productive and durable throughout his career. Considered a team leader during his time with the Bengals, the veteran has started 115 of 121 games, notching 896 tackles, 23 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries and 11 interceptions. Simmons, who has returned two interceptions for touchdowns in his career, played middle linebacker in 2006 after starting at outside linebacker from 2003-05. He also started in the middle from 1998-2002. |

Re: Where is Brian Simmons?
Simoneau played terrible on Thursday. He spent all night getting eaten up by Indianapolis blockers. Every tackle he made was down field five or six yards, and he never drove through any ball carrier, he seemed to be content with dragging people down. Also, he isn't fast enough to get to the corner on outside runs, which was pretty evident in Thursday's game. This guy blows, in my opinion, and I don't understand why we are keeping the much more athletic Simmons on the sidelines.

Re: Where is Brian Simmons?
The problem is already evident. The Saints coaches are too in love with the returning three. They would have done well to put four linebackers into the game at times, since they wanted to stay with a 4-3 most of the time anyway, and do like the Steelers did when they beat the colts. The coaches are already not using their strengths. I'm starting a put Coach Peyton on notice thread.

Re: Where is Brian Simmons?
It took a whole season for "fans" to turn on Haslett, but it seems to be happening with one game now.

Re: Where is Brian Simmons?
Simoneau is so obviously worse than Simmons.
Does Simoneau wash Sean Payton's car, or do his laundry, or walk his dog, or something?? That's the only explaination I can come up with as to the sick man-love going on between the two. Simmons must refuse to do dishes. In with Simmons, out with Simoneau! In with Simmons, out with Simoneau! |

There's also a complete revamping of the Defensive playbook to consider. That's not really a change you can make mid season.
Maybe you're talking about running a 4-4? If you think the Colts made the team look bad Thursday, just be glad they didn't have 8 in the box. Manning would have had a field day with that. I could see a strong nickle set with Harper up in the box, 2 LBs and 4 on the DL. That way you still have Roman in there to help on the run and the pass, and bring in another safety or Usama as the nickle to get more speed/bodies in coverage. |

Re: Where is Brian Simmons?
i hope we don't start the "GOING DOWN SONG " from just one game.you have to think that a staff that turned the wreck of a team we had into a contender knows a little more about what's happening than we do.other good teams have had stinker ballgames too.if this type play becomes routine, we should gripe but for now, remember these coaches and players want to win also
