Saints Need
What the Saints need
1. More than anything right now is fire, because right now there has been none shown by either side of the ball. We really need a vocal leader who will get into the face of guys when they don't perform. I don't wan to hear about Joe Horn either. Saying the right things in the post game press conference doesn't get it done. There has been no emotion out there has I have seen. A couple of guys have shown up to play in each game but you need 22 to show up to win a game. 2. More running the ball behind Mike Karney and less out of the two tight end formation. Karney is arguably the best fullback in the business and he opens up huge holes why do we keep him on the sideline? This goes along with keeping Deuce on the sidelines as well. 3. Some more creativity, where the heck did the offensive creativity go from last year? How many times have we seen Deuce and Reggie out there at the same time this season? It almost looks like a vanilla based pre-season offensive play calling out there right now. 4. Defense----where are all the blitz packages we heard about in training camp. We have to get pressure on the QB. More linebacker blitzes, and more pressure from our DE's is needed, I think we should consider blitzing at least one LB every play. Grant and Smith are not getting any pressure and that's because the O-line is keying in them and our interior line gets no push either, except for Hollis he has produced some pressure. I think he merits more playing time. The Secondary is not up to snuff, but you have to remember David is still learning a new defense although he needs to improve his game yesterday. Harper is coming off a knee injury and Bullocks looks good one minute horrible the next. Perhaps a trade may be in order to try and bolster this area of the team, or giving younger guys (Usama) or older guys (Freddy T) a chance. 5. Offense needs to execute the simple X's and O's, you know blocking, holding onto the football, catching...that sort of thing. We have been totally out of sync for three games including the NFC championship. 6. A nasty streak....get mean on defense. Try and knock the head off of every player that touches or even looks at the ball. It's like my old high school coach used to say," if the RB runs the ball, make him pay for it, if the WR catches the ball make him pay for it. Make them think twice about putting their hands on the ball." This goes for offense as well, don't shy away from contact, lower your shoulder and run over somebody or stiff arm the heck out of them. 7. Turnovers...really there isn't anything needed to be said. You have more take aways than give aways you put your self up in pretty good position to win the game. 8. The big play....we need to get them on the offensive side and for the love of all that's good stop them on defense. That is our biggest Achilles heel right now. 9. Surpass the attitude and intensity of the opposition... The Colts and Bucs came in fired up and physical and we just shriveled beneath their will. We have been notorious for playing down to talent and playing up to better opponents although the last two weeks not so much. Championship teams always match and up the intensity to win ball games and we need to learn when someone punches you in the mouth you hit them with a steel chair. 10. A win....more than anything a win will help sooth a lot of ill feelings and stop the bleeding. We have a lot of work to do to climb out of this hole we are in but we do have the talent to do it. I can can honestly say I think we are a couple of defense players away from being a championship team. I had a vivid dream a couple of weeks ago we were in the SuperBowl and we beat the Bengals; the only bad thing was I vividly remember the announcer saying the Saints were Super Bowl 44 Champions. That's a couple of years away, but I'd take it. I have faith we will get out of our funk and push for our division crown because the division is very weak and will push for a playoff spot, but a championship? We have a lot of work to do before we can talk about that. Geaux Saints!!! |

Re: Saints Need
What the saints need is to RUN DEUCE!!! He's getting 10 touches a game with about 50 yrds per game. Thats 5 yards a carry. Drew, Reggie and Marques are great. But Deuce is the center of that offense. He is what everything should revolve around. He should be getting 20 touches per game. Sean Payton has proven to be a very good coach, but when you have all that talent and cant move the ball something is wrong coaching-wise. RUN DEUCE!!!

Saints have no Defense. D is worse than last year.
Reggie Bush is too small and goes down with a hard swat from a NFL-caliber defender. I see no improvement from last season with Bush. You are what your record says you are -- Zero Wins and Two Losses. |

11. A home game to get the fans back into the season. Then, everything sort of takes care of itself. Remember, two road games in two hostile atmospheres. Bring 'um back to the dome and let's see how they perform.

Re: Saints Need
Deuce was running the ball just fine on the drive that Mare missed the field goal. We got inside the 30 and took Deuce out and put in Reggie and didn't gain any yardage and then missed the field goal. Reggie is not the proven runner yet. Until he learns how to hit the hole first and then cut he won't be. If Deuce would have stayed in the odds were better that we would have scored. Maybe he had to come out because of the poke in his eye but he was defintely efficient and the score was only 7-0 at the time. You run Deuce until they stop him, END OF STORY!!!!!!!!!1
