Confidence issue
Say what you will, but this is essentially the same team as last year, less an aging, oft injured Joe Horn. I love Joe but he wasn't on the field at the end of the year during the playoff run.
I was at the Indy game and watched the same energy fill the Colts that super charged the Saints in the first game in the Dome last year against the hated Falcons. The fans in Indy stood up when the Championship banner was raised and didn't sit until half time. The game was still 10-10 then. The subsequent drubbing left a gaping hole in the confidence department and one good win will jumpstart the season. Oh yeah, and the realization that Duece runs better north and south, and Reggie gets to the corner faster, not the other way around. Brees has thrown some ugly passes, but probably because he's not confident in the pocket with the poor protection. Draws and screens will improve the pass protection. My advice: Don't panic, stay with the run. Start the passing game with crossing routes and short timing passes, then build to longer routes. And don't be afraid to check down to Reggie in the flat. He can make special things happen. Defensively: Focus on stopping the run. Period. Historically teams that win big games do it with defense and running the ball. Even the Colts and Broncos had to add a defense and running game before their great quarterbacks could lift the Lombardi Trophy. Geaux Saints! You'll be just fine! |

Re: Confidence issue
They aren't beating us by running against us they are beating us by passing on us. Half-time the Colts adjusted... they saw something and came out with a passing attack. Tampa beat us by passing on us. We can't get enough pressure on the QB or cover the bed with a blanket.
