Maybe I missed that one, but who was crying for Toast to return as a starter? I'd say that guy needs to step away from the moonshine for a while...

I'm surprised by how far his stock has fallen, but the birds have a QB guru on staff. I would've liked a shot at Leftwich, after Carr.

Shoooot...They need to sign AB. He's got Leftwich's arm and can actually move. Plus, he's Vick's cousin so they won't miss Vick so bad with him at QB.

Fred was not THAT bad. He guarded against TO with a broke hand, and shut him down - 1 TD. Fred may not be the best but Jason David just sucks.

Yes, I would take Fred over Burnt Toast any day.

Andersen is a great guy and a great player, and I hope he goes into the HOF as a Saint.

Bottom line though, he doesn't have the leg anymore, forcing a team to carry an extra kicker or have a punter who can kickoff. His long last year was 45 yards, and the Birds other kicker was put in for long field goals.

I was all for getting Leftwich, if just to spite ATL. My guess he is starting week 9, after the bye

Yeah, Andersen does not have that leg he once had. Still very accurate 40 yards and under. I think he is still a good pickup for a team with kicking needs. Atlanta is very fortunate to have him back. Yes, he does create a need to either carry another specialist to kickoff if the punter is unable to play that roll. But, I thing I will say. Mare does have that great leg on kickoffs, but most of his kicks into the end zone are still returnable. Maybe kicking to the 5 or 10 is not that bad if the special teams can still keep a guy behind the 30 yard line, providing he is accurate inside of 40 yards. FG attempts outside of 40 yards do not need to be attempted if the punter can pin a team inside the 10. Oh well, whatever...

On another note, I think during the by-week the Saints may bring in a kicker or two, if nothing else to send a message to Mare. We will see...

My guess is Leftwich will start for Atlanta in about 2 or 3 weeks. The only reason he was signed by Atlanta is Harrington is not getting it done at all.

I think that andersen is a pretty good pick up for atlanta being that he hardly ever misses... but he does not have much of a leg any more considering his age....... But I think that Leftwich has a 50/50 chance of being good in atlanta..... i would say that he is goin to start in the next few weeks.... but he is a true pocket passer not a fast scarambleing QB like there o-line is use to with micheal vick and i dont know if they are going to beable to protect him enough so that he can stay health and get the job done... and he does not have to many wepons to pass the ball too. But he has to be alot better than Joey harrrington.........
