Fujiita MLB
If i get bashed so be it but something has been bothering me since last season watching a a tall linebacker who can jump playing outside linebacker. Fujiita would make the perfect middle linebacker because:
A) His body build is almost exactly of that of urlacher B) He is tall and aggressive C) He can plug the c gap and h thomas and w smith can do the rest D)I saw him get burned playing a mlb type role against tampa and he was a hair away from an interception. He just got was faked out but his athleticism almost helped him out because he went from the front line to the middle very quick. E) We have been beat very bad to the left side both running and passing, I will give Shanle the benefit of the doubt because he is our one and only blitzer, We need more blitzes from the right side. Please rewatch the games and comment. Fujita is too gifted to play outside. |

Well, for what it's worth, EVERYONE has been playing badly so far this season. So, there's no need to start moving everything around just yet. The Saints need to regain their identity. When the team begins to step up, I'm sure Shanle and the rest of the corps are going to start playing like a champion.
However, you may be completely right with the Fujita-MLB thing. I've always seen him as a MLB as well and I have noticed him play well in the MLB-type roles. But, the question is, will having Fujita at MLB actually make the defense better as a whole? Who's going to take Fujita's spot and how well will he play? |

LOL who would take his spot? Evans? hmmm that might not be bad. Simmons backing up both? I think it might work. NAh Gibbs would never do it. I want to tar and feather him for the defense but I don't know if it is all his fault. YET. Roster choices on his side of the ball has not thrilled me

Re: Fujiita MLB
Simmons has played MLB for the Bengals long enough that he should be in there. Simoneau cannot shed a block for his life. I like his heart and his character and he's a great guy to have for the locker room and depth, but as a starter he has too many weaknesses. Simmons needs to get his butt into that lineup and show his worth.
I would be all for Fujita getting a shot at the middle but it would have required grabbing a stud outside man like Briggs or Adalius Thomas in the offseason to make that realistic. I would feel safer right now with Fujita where he is given our lack of depth/talent outside. |

Here's a question. Don't you guys think that if Simmons were better, he would be starting? I mean, it's not like Gibbs doesn't want to win too.
