Re: It's Encouraging

I think this might be another High School Team we're witnessing. Could it be that the Bears showed the rest of the league a blueprint on how to beat the Saints last year? Sean Payton does not look like he's made any adjustments since. Kinda crazy going for it on 4th on your side and then throwing it deep when you have a stud like Deuce back there to make half a yard!

Well we have to improve every phase of our game.
Nothing really good about this. Unless you think a better draft pick is something. Right now I don't. No player is safe in my opinion. Plenty of bench.
AMEN!

I see alot on new faces on this board posting in this thread. Welcome.

Now, here is the deal.

Every Saints fan complained about the defense after the year was up. The Saints heard us and aquired some more people. Well, that #3 passing defense went south. We wanted more weapons for Drew....well, we got them too. Now Brees doesn't know who to throw to.

Face it WE ASKED FOR THIS! Last years defense is a freakin' monster compaired to this year.

To the people saying "get rid of Brees and bring in Brooks"; there is no way, NO FRIGGIN' WAY, you are true Saints fans. Brees has done more for our team and the city of N.O. than A.B. ever wanted to. If any of you say that at the begining of the year you did not love Drew, I will call you a ......well, I won't say it because of the "personal attack rules".

Are the Saints what we want??????

No, but this is what we asked for.

"We are number one. All others are number two, or lower."

Ok let me be the first to say what the real problem is. What is different this year from last year? Why are we not as good as last year? The answer is simple. We let Joe Horn go.
Sure he had his injuries, was getting older, and has done nothing with the Falcons but on the Saints he was a catalyst! He was a fiery veteran that knew how to play and taught others how to play as well. He loved the city and we loved him back then we let him go. Business is business but I say bring back Hollywood!!!

Re: It's Encouraging

Dave, welcome aboard.

But I really don't think bringing Joe back is the solution. Right now OUR boys have too many problems to name. This team is not a team right now. Something is wrong that we can not see. Maybe something in the locker room, or maybe the playbook. I don't know. Maybe Boba can find out some answers for us.

Here's the deal.....Everyone is jumping all over Drew Brees and how terrible he is. Lets not forget, He did lead us to the NFC Championship last year. Oh and plenty of other players are not showing up either. Here is the difference between Aaron Brooks and Drew Brees (besides the fact they shouldn't even be in the same category) Brooks never cared when he played bad and never got upset at how bad he sucked. In the press conference after the game, you could really tell how much it bothered him. I am just as disappointed as the next guy and had the highest expectations this year but I am not ready to call our coach and QB bad and need to be replaced. Brees needs more protection in the pocket and our offensive line has got to step up. Not to mention our defense needs to play aggresive and TACKLE people instead of brushing them with there hands. All I am saying is, disappointing? YES! But Brees is still a good QB and Payton is still a good coach. Maybe other teams figured out our offense from last year and we need to reevaluate our strategy.

Re: It's Encouraging

Hey thanks for the welcome!

Well my Joe Horn comment was kind of made in jest. I just miss him he was the best WR we ever had. I will always cherish his cell phone celebration and all he did for the Saints fans and community. In no way am I going to bash Brees or Bush or Colston or any of the guys who brought us to within one win of the Super bowl last year. I am just so confused as to why the most powerful looking offense last year is now the weakest looking this year. I'm hoping that maybe during the BYE they will have time to rethink things and heal Deuce up a little too. Maybe Payton can come up with something to once again fire up his team and surprise some other teams with changes in the game plan that suddenly seems to be exposed (did the Colts, Bucs and now Titans all take a page out of Bill Belichecks book and record some of the Saints signals?) jk
Anyway I've been a fan since 1987 so I've seen them actually look even worse than this and I never lost faith and never lost love. Someday the pieces will all come together and just like when the Red Sox won it all 3 years ago the Saints winning it all will feel that much sweeter. I just hope we don't have to wait 86 years!

How can you honestly say we addressed our concerns when you "acquire" people and don't put them in the line up? This D is a carbon copy with the exception of axing Toast and returning Harper to the line up. Where is all this talent the team acquired? Haven't even 'smelled' Simmons at MLB and the GM apparently thinks this is the McKenzie of 5 years ago!

And don't get me started on the offense. Apart from unceremoniously dumping Horn, where are the personnel the team acquired?

For all the off season/ draft pick ups, we've made NO adjustments to this team. And don't get me friggin' started on the play calling!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now excuse me while I down a Valium! Just reading some of these candy coated BS posts have got my blood pressure up! (visualize the veins sticking out of my forehead, and you get the picture!)
