food for thought...........

consider this............
we are the best 0-3 team out there.........
for those who think we stink, i have this reply,
we do............
but , if you throw out the bucs, and i really
think you should'nt,
we have been in all 2 out of 3 games heading
into the 2nd half.........
that is where we are not falling apart, but,
not getting it done......
these are the mistakes and miscues we cheered
last yr because the other teams were making them.
we , were getting it done........
we can get it done without horn, and gulp, without duece,
and we can turn this around......
there is no blue print to beat the saints, the saints
are doing that themselves........
we are a good team despite what has happened.....
i actually let my heart dictate the prediction of the
bucs win, but i don't care.....
i did'nt feel they showed anything to merit wins
over the last 3 opponents from watching the pre
season and listening to the hype.....
it did come back to bite em in the azz.......
now, they are in a corner.......
13 to go, but where do you start?
the offense is good enough and the defense
is good enough to get wins, if, they get on
the same page......
they have to play with heart, and they are not.
will carolina be the start?
yes , it will..............
i am boldly predicting an outright win over the panthers...
this will be the first win and a turnaround
that will get the taste of victory
back in their mouths......
someone wanted to bet a paycheck on this game,
now, who was it? and how much is it?
i'm betting gut now........
and this one is on the road...............smitty

Re: food for thought...........

EXACTLY!!!

Like I said on another thread, 9-7 could win THAT division. You guys could EASILY go 9-4 the rest of the way. If any team is equipped to do it, it's you guys. It would also continue the "feel good" thing in N.O. that started the day you guys drafted R. Bush and caught fire last year......to be THE team that overcame an 0-3 start to make the playoffs. Remember also that in the NFC, 8-8 could very well be a wild-card team.
At this point, it's "between the ears" in that locker room.
Throw out all the stats about 0-3 teams or numbers three games into a season. Free Agency and Salary cap did away with all those "probabilities" years ago. Most of those stats have been blown out of the water over the last ten years. Anything can happen in this day and age.
You got 45 men who know how to win in that locker room. Along with a coaching staff and front office who know how to win. Where they're at mentally right now is the key. Have they given up already? All those football words like "perseverance, intestinal fortitude, commitment, etc..........one game at a time, momentum, etc.....", all that Lombardi stuff. It's all true. I played the game for 14 years and tried out for a few pro teams (got waxed of course, but at least I won't die wondering!).
So, I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that locker room and have a handle on the mental state of your team..........................

I hate to be the one to rain on your parade but we aren't the best 0-3 team. I'd have to give that to the Dolphins, Rams, Falcons, ok Saints over the Bills at this point.
WE give up way to many points on D by a mile! We haven't performed much better on O either. I mean as far as 0-3 teams we aren't even getting it done in that class of team. The game is about adjustments and reacting. We haven't adjusted nor reacted when teams come out in the second half. I'd say that is a huge flaw as well. You can honestly say we were in the games for the first minute when the score is still 0-0. What really matters as always is the final score which averages to about 12-34 (just in case anyone can't figure out that 12 points for the Saints and 34 against). 12-34 on average... think about that - that is horrible.

Tell you what................

Do a poll (not just around here) and ask people the following:

Of these four teams, the Dolphins, Falcons, Rams and Saints.....if you had to pick one, who would stand the best chance of making the playoffs?

'Nuff said............!!!!

Take Dallas this week. No one, and I mean NO ONE is the least bit concerned about he Rams coming to town. If the Saints we're coming to town, do you think the Cowboy team and faithful would be whistling through the graveyard?
Doubt it. The Saints are dangerous, stats or no stats. If the Falcons, Dolphins (who Dallas already dismantled), or the Bills (in two weeks) were up this week, same thing.
No one is looking past the Saints on their schedule. Not after that display last year, and with basically the same crew. 0-3 not, your mistaken about them being on par with those other teams.

Sorry I look at the stats and not just the over hyped - over achieveing players and the way the teams are playing. The Saints aren't showing they can live up to there over achieveing year. The other teams were more in the games than the Saints have been.

I mean I want the Saints to win as much as anyone but I choose to live in reality instead of fantasy. Until we get coaches and people finally realize and take the time (2-3 years)to build O line and D line we are going to be a team that gets lucky and have a winning season at best every 6-8 years. 40 seasons and we have had 8 winning season. Reggie isn't the savior a dominating O line and D line you can put anyone in the back field and win.

Euph, I dig you man. You and I have been on this site for awhile and I feel a quasi bond with you.
That said, yes the Saints have been underwhelming but out of the Dolphins, Rams, Chiefs, Falcons, Bills and Saints, I'd much rather be a Saints fan.

Of course I'll always be a Saints fan. This team has more promise than the other teams. We'll still see the playoffs. Just look at the power rankings. The three teams that we lost to are in the top 15:D

Re: food for thought...........

The team that just beat the Saints, started 0-5 last year and ended 8-8. They almost made the playoffs by 1 or 2 games. The are just 0-5, so they can still make the playoffs.

Re: food for thought...........

I am a Saints fan and believe that we can turn the season around. Less turnovers (0-2 per game), a few big plays (1-2 per game), solid blocking and tackling, and we will get some wins. Consistency in the trenches will position us in close games to pull some out. We MUST take care of the rest of our Divisional contests.

Re: food for thought...........

I just find it a bit disturbing when a fan from another team has more faith in our team than some of us do.

When we, (for some unknown of mental issue) made the choice to become Saints fans; we knew this team was no good. The only bright side we ever saw in Dome Patrol era. I knew in 1972 the Saints sucked. Why do I still love them?????? Who ever can give me that reason needs to write a book about Saints fans. We have been able to finally have a season where we almost made it. Luck or not...we almost made it!

Yes, this year has made us, as fans fall back into our, "Welp, it's gonna be another year full of cussing, heartache, and pure pain." Well, I think it's kinda crappy to just lose all hope after just 3 games. I admit, just like the rest of you, we have serious problems right now. Can they be fixed....hell yeah they can be.

IMHO, I think the team feels worse because they are letting us down right now. None of you will all of a sudden say, "Well, screw this!, I'm outta here!" We have been fans of a sucky team all our lives. There is more to this team and us than them winning a SuperBowl.

Sorry, to preach. and yes, I will continue to complain. Just remember, how much you love this team. They will win. Will we go to the SB????? More than likely, no we won't. But come August 2008 we will still be in here awaiting opening day.

GO SAINTS!

Re: food for thought...........

The history of our team doesn't lend itself to turnarounds. We usually flop at the end of the season. What would equate as a turn around at this point? Anything less than 10-6 would be a failure from last year. We'd be heading in the wrong direction.

Great teams need to win the games they are suppose to win. Titans-Bucs... we should have won those. Colts I'll give a pass to they are great and coming off a SB victory.

I've been watching the tape...even last years tape. Teams don't fear us deep because Brees doesn't throw deep...and when he does throw deep, receivers have to make adjustments and just outplay the defender. Brees is great 25 yards and in...as the Missle said, "watch the tapes", when he airs it out, very few are on target or successful. Most 35+ pass completions were 25 or less throws with add-on yards after the catch.
