Louisiana connection......
This from WWLTV.com.
HOME TOWN TEAM: There are 12 Louisiana players and seven players from the greater New Orleans area on the Saints training camp roster this summer. Ashley Ambrose, Lynaris Elpheage, Talman Gardner, Terrell Harris, Derrick Lewis, Michael Lewis, and Derrick Rodgers are from New Orleans. Jerry Fontenot is from Lafayette, Kenderick Allen is from Bogalusa, Fakhir Brown is from Mansfield, Kerwin Cook is from Ferriday, and Walt Williams is from Baton Rouge. I just thought this was interesting to know. |

This is an interesting bit of info. Ashley Ambrose, Michael Lewis, Derrick Rodgers, and Jerry Fontenot are locks to not only make the final 53 but could also be starters. Talman Gardner and Derrick Lewis will also have strong odds on making the final 53. Longer odds for Terrell Harris, Kerwin Cook, Walt Williams, Fahkir Brown, and Lynaris Elpheage. It\'s a good chance that one or more may see practice squad with Kendrick Allen. Something to keep an eye on.
Having players that are from within the regional area of team and certainly from inside the state brings the local flavor to the team that fans tend to connect with. Everybody loves the hometown hero and tend follow them a little closer. It is also good for ticket sales as fans from the players areas within distance to see them are more likely to make a trip to the dome than they would if that local player were not with the team. Keep an eye on how many Mississippi license plates you see on game day now that we have Deuce. Imagine one of the Mannings on the roster at QB. |
