Jackson saga weighty matter in several ways
By SHELDON MICKLES smickles@theadvocate.com Advocate sportswriter Advocate staff photo by Mark Saltz Saints defensive lineman Grady Jackson ended up in coach Jim HaslettÕs doghouse after missing workouts. METAIRIE -- The New Orleans Saints did everything they could to motivate defensive tackle Grady Jackson and get him to attend their off-season strength and conditioning workouts this spring. But their efforts were to no avail as Jackson, a seven-year veteran who joined the Saints last season from the Oakland Raiders, missed all of the work except for a three-day minicamp in early May. Not even a $1 million roster bonus could entice Jackson to end his boycott of the voluntary workouts, which included a series of on-field coaching sessions that ran from late May through mid-June. Guess it\'s not money that motivates him. Maybe put in some free donuts for next years workouts!

Billy,
Nowhere in that article or any information elsewhere does anyone suggest that Grady turned down One Million Dollars. I think you interpeted the quote that \"not even a million dollar roster bonus could entice Jackson to end his boycott of the voluntary workouts\" as something he forfeited. A roster bonus is a bonus payable if he makes the 53 man roster on opening day and is not waived prior to that. He still intends to collect. |

I won\'t dissect your reply word by word, though you could have omitted the word guess. The most important thing here is that your adversaries, who openly berate you with antagonism, see your reply. They will no longer view you as a self-centered and self-righteous individual, but as the humble gentlemen that you are. Being right all of the time is hard, but it beats being soft. You know, if you were a sprite, you would have an automatic pass on board my sleigh. See ya in Houston! sprite n. a fairy; an elflike person Hey! Watch out! Don\'t get the wrong idea here!
