this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Great catch in the endzone, but compared to last year not very productive. Does he have some injury we don't know about or have teams figured him out?...

Where is COLSTON?
Great catch in the endzone, but compared to last year not very productive. Does he have some injury we don't know about or have teams figured him out?

having no one to worry about on the other side has hurt him.

Focus, execution and concentration. He'll get it together as the rest of the offense improves.

Re: Where is COLSTON?
Ding ding ding, we have a winner. The reason why Colston was so successful last season was because we had guys like Devery Henderson and Terrence Copper making big plays to take some of the focus off of him. This year, Colston is getting all of the attention because opposing defenses don't have to pay too much attention to whoever the other receiver is because they're not making plays.
P.S. - what the hell happened to Copper? He was very good last year, but he's non-existent now. |

Re: Where is COLSTON?
Patton, Moore, and Johnson all showed up. Reggie has disappeared to a degree because of the shift to him being a traditional back.
Henderson has played himself off the squad as far as I'm concerned. Moore and Patton have far outplayed him. Copper has simply gotten caught in the numbers games. There are clearly 3 better receivers than him and the staff keeps giving Henderson chances. There are no 6 wideout sets. Receivers are not the problem with this offense. The problem with this offense has been three fold: 1) Poor line play 2) Inconsistent running game 3) Inaccurate passing leading to turnovers. Look at what happens when all three are corrected even for a half. 3 TDs by the offense and only one turnover which wasn't an INT. The receiver corps is fine (with the exception of Henderson). Leave them be (again with the exception of Henderson). Work on getting consistent line play and an effective running game. With those Brees will rise back to one of the best QBs in the NFC. Then the receivers will flourish. SFIAH |

Re: Where is COLSTON?
You missed one. The use of Karney. This offense works much better when he's in the game. Pure and simple.

Re: Where is COLSTON?
I don`t buy this stuff that Colston is not more involved because he`s the expected target. All the great receivers are primary targets, but they run good routes and find ways to get open. That`s how a receiver gets the ball in this league, you get open. When Colston gets open he`ll get the ball more.
Last nite Colston dropped an easy quick-out screen pass and he also lost a jump ball in the endzone that he had the position on and should have caught. Crap like this does not help your case for getting the ball more. |

Re: Where is COLSTON?
Is it me or did Colston look really frustrated and mopey. Even after he caught that TD he didn't look to excited. It even look like Brees was consoling him more than congratulating him. I think he's going to be fine, it's his sophomore year, the toughest year especially for wide outs.
