Reggie as the Starter
Since Becoming the Starter.....
......Reggie has accounted for 37% of our total offense. I'm still trying to decide whether this is a good or bad thing. Our M.O. in 2006 was "Pick Your Poison", now it seems to be "The Reggie Show." I wasn't thrilled with Stecker's number being called so often, but Payton has no choice but to spread the load a bit. I think he did a good job of pacing the offense and showcasing some different players to keep the 'Hawks defense off-balance (I don't think Reggie touched the ball once in that last drive before halftime). Reggie's early blitzkrieg opened up some things for the other guys, and they responded. The challenge will be to re-establish our old offensive balance for the rest of the season. The Patten-Moore platoon at the #2 WR spot has to keep producing. Colston needs to step up. And we need to find some way to scare teams downfield, since Devery seems to have mentally checked out of the season. I still think opposing defenses will gear up to stop Reggie until we get consistent production from other positions. Only then will we become the machine we were last year. Here's hoping that Reggie can continue to put up the numbers with his workload, because it looks like our offense is starting to show signs of life...... |
