Veteran LB's for next year?
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns
------------------------------- "And while they're at it, start looking for suitors for Jonathan Vilma. He's a fantastic 4-3 linebacker wasting away in Eric Mangini's 3-4 scheme. " "don't be surprised if the great Zach Thomas calls it a career at the end of the season. It's a sad end for a wonderful player." ----------------------------------- Maybe it's a pipe dream, but I would be pretty pleased to see either one of those guys at Millsaps next summer. Thoughts? --Rich |
Re: Veteran LB's for next year?
I'd love to see Vilma as a Saint. It would be a great up grade...I met him last year he a very nice guy.

Re: Veteran LB's for next year?
Vilma is my favorite linebacker in the league, i was so mad when the jets traded up and took him a few years ago

Re: Veteran LB's for next year?
Vilma would be great. I'd pass on Zach, though. He's a little long in the tooth.

Re: Veteran LB's for next year?
Not gonna happen. The Saints don't go after big name guys except Brees because nobody wanted him coming off injury

Re: Veteran LB's for next year?
Why are we still talking about veterans for our defense?? Don't we have enough players who are "long in the tooth".... We could have filled some glaring holes in this year's draft.
Please no more second/third tier veteran defenders. |

I'm lathered up about Vilma. This is the type of guy we need on the LB corp to help Fuji out. |
Re: Veteran LB's for next year?
I'd love to see Vilma as a Saint. Not only is he a very good linebacker but also active in the community. Go for it.

Re: Veteran LB's for next year?
Vilma is a great pick up if it happens. I think we may go for one defensive position next year. But I think the following year it is almost definite. They will complete the OL next year I believe and then do the defense
Here is a list of FA LB in 2008. Not updated but it is complete. KFFL - 2008 NFL Free Agents |

Other Guys to Possibly Cut: Terrance Copper Mark Simoneau Jay Bellamy Guys to Possibly Resign: Eric Johnson (if he keeps it up) David Patten(One or two year deal only) Some other interesting guys: Jamal Lewis (He's only 27 and if Deuce doesn't recover...I'm just sayin') Alan Faneca (Home town boy, 30 years old, means you can cut ties with Nesbit and still give Alleman time to develope.) Albert Haynesworth (hopefully he's put his face-kicking days behind him) If the Saints could land Faneca and Vilma in the FA market, that would be a huge windfall...it'll never happen, but a guy can dream, right? |
