Re: Pierre Thomas

Do you recall fullback Karney scoring 3 TD's in one game last season? ... I'll give you a hint, Dallas. Now how was it Karney walked into the endzone 3 times untouched? Because all eyes were on Reggie, Deuce, and Colston. Yes, an NFL franchise, a playoff calibur team, got fooled.... not 1, not 2, but 3 times.

Re: Pierre Thomas

you're absolutely right, about what i don't know, but you're right

the fact that our offense has been running like a surgical scoring and 3rd down converting machine this year .is. probably the thing that sprung pierre, forget the fact that it was his first handoff of the game for over 20 yards, broken tackles, jukes and all, for a touchdown.

all i'm saying is pierre is hungry, feed the beast!

reggie's good and everything for a big play or two, but pierre is so effective he demands touches

Re: Pierre Thomas

There is only one person on the other teams defense watching Thomas, closely. There are three or more people watching Bush closely. The entire defense is trying to stop Reggie not Pierre.

Re: Pierre Thomas

I don't think Thomas gets the playing time due to the fact that you don't want a rookie back there trying to protect your franchse from getting his head knocked off b/c the OL is so poor. Secondly, being this is a pass happy offense I've read that he is not as good a reciever as Strecker or Bush for that matter.

The guy can run the ball. We need someone else other than Bush that can run the ball. Simply put in a package for him that features him running the ball and all the passes being quick stuff. With Bush dragging away a double team, PT will run wild.

I hear ya but lets face it our OL has yet to preform up to the the level necessary to sustain a running game. This has been very apparent when you look at how we almost let Seattle back into the game b/c we couldn't run in the 2nd half and control the clock. And the coaching staff has to want to run the ball. Payton seems like he is only calling the run when the other team expects it which means there are 8 defenders in the box. Running Pierre Thomas is not going to effect either of these two realities. The OL needs a big upgrade to truly become a 1st tier NFL team rushing.

I agree about the O-Line being a problem. They've stepped up a little since the first few games, but they still aren't as good as they need to be.

A good example of Payton calling a run when it is expected is when they had 1st and goal from the 4. He bunched up the line and had a WR come in motion and stop at the line. The ball was given to Reggie for a loss after the falcons blew up the play. I might not have been able to tell anyone it was going to be a run, but as the ball was snapped that is what I expected.

Re: Pierre Thomas

Thomas runs forward and takes what the defense gives him. Reggie is still trying to do too much.
