So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

I'm not sure we should be all that fired up about a team that only gets it done against the wounded and confused.

Let's give them props for not screwing up. But I'm going to be convinced with a win against the Jags.

Here's to hoping a real football team shows up in the Dome this Sunday.

And the Jaguars aren't beat up at quarterback? Give me a break.

Here's to hoping this is the beginning of a hotstreak to that gets us to and beyond .500

Defense is playing well, I see no reason why we should be doubted at this point.

We suck.

We have every reason to be wary of the 49ers or any team for that matter. Are you disappointed that the Saints won?
Why do some people have such a hard time being happy around here? Enjoy the win. Worry about next week tomorrow.

hahahahaha I love your signature "Obviously"

I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed Brees totally wears that word out while on camera or radio.

Obviously....obviously...well obviously....yeah obviously we....and obviously....

Reggie Bush is even starting to do it. Take notice.

Yeah, obviously the whole team is doing it. Obviously Sean Payton says it a lot too. It's too obvious to ignore.

I don't think there was a more wounded and confused team in the NFL before those three games than the Saints. At least they showed the guts and heart to turn it around, how about giving them some credit for doing what those three teams couldn't, WIN. I can remember before the Seattle game how many people on this very forum didn't give the Saints a snowball chance in hell to beat the Seahawks, but they did, and now that wasn't even good enough. Seems to me that the Saints can't please some people regardless of what they do, well when you're 0 - 4, a victory in the NFL is a victory, it don't really matter who it is that you beat as long as you beat them. Quick question? Are the Bucs(4-4) and the Panthers(4-3) that much better than us? The Bucs beat the Saints, Rams, Panthers, and Titans. While the Panthers beat up on the Rams, Falcons, Saints, and Cardinals. Yo, I know we haven't beaten the Colts or the Patriots, but who has, but like I said, credit is definitely due because they could have gave up on the season just like the Falcons, or the wheels could have came completely off like the Jets(1-7). Remember boys and girls, there was a lot of people talking about Mangenious giving Coach Payton a run for the 2006 COY, of course that didn't happen, and Payton got his boys playing better ball right now. Hey, you could be a Bears fan after getting swept by the Lions for Christ sake. Just be happy that there's some type of light at the end of the tunnel. GO SAINTS!!!!!!

The Jags just barely beat the Bucs, and the Saints are clearly playing better than Tampa Bay, right now. And the Jags have a good defense but not a good offense.

Benhamine 10-29-2007 12:37 AM

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

The Saints are definitely playing better. No one can deny that. Also, I'll be the first to admit that im about as happy as I can be right now about the win today. However, if the Saints are going to want to keep this up there is one thing that needs to change. So far this season in almost EVERY game the saints do decent in the first half (if not blow the other team away e.g. today) but when they come back from halftime it's almost as if they don't try. They were destroying the 49ers today in the first half. When they came back onto the field they should've been playing alot better than they did. San Francisco shouldn't have gotten any goals :P. Now I'm not complaining and I'm going to say right now again that I'm about as happy as I can be and will be wearing my Saints jersey proudly tomorrow. But if we keep playing like we do in the second half it's going to be a sad season for Saints fans everywhere.

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

A win is win thats all that matters in the standing. Maybe these loses were a good thing. They wont take winning for granted and maybe they learned that every game is a trap game in the NFL. Who really thought after the way Washington played against the Packers they would look like an 0-7 team against the Pats. Did I think they could win? No. Getting B slapped like that? No.
So welcome back boys the true tests are coming up.

As for the title of this thread......

1. Seattle has a better record than we do.
2. The three worst teams are Rams, Dolphins, and Jets.
3. The Cowboys and Patriots have beaten up on crappy teams this year. (See AFC East.)

We are gonna be fine folks.. Go Saints!!!

We got on a roll last year starting the season off by beating up on 3 "bad" teams in a row (Browns, Packers, & Atlanta), and that was enough to build confidence, gain momentum, and carry us to the NFC Championship. Don't under estimate the importance of confidence and momentum in the NFL.

Atlanta was 2-0 when we played them in that game.

All you can do is play the schedule that is dealt to you. Should we try to swap with another team so we can have better competition. And as far as playing Jax when they are a little banged up I'm all for it. We will play all the rest of our games without our best player "deuce".

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

Doesn't matter. At the time they were 2-0 and their running game was looking phenomenal. In other words, they weren't bad heading into the Saints game.

Question: If the Saints went 12-4 this season, can Tampa Bay and Carolina brag about beating a GREAT Saints team in weeks 2 and 4?

mjf150 10-29-2007 12:09 PM

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

Have you ever heard of a "bad 2-0 team"? Records are not always indicative of how good a team is or isn't. Those two wins came against a Panthers team that finished 8-8 and a Tampa team who finished 4-12. We were a good 2-0 team, and they were a bad 2-0 team, and we proved that when the two went head-to-head.

BlackHoleSlam 10-29-2007 12:52 PM

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

Using your logic........if the Saints go on to have a successful season this year, we can say they were a "good 0-4 team". Well, they weren't. They were a team that got completely embarrassed 3 of those 4 times. Of the 4 losses, the only team you could say (at that point in time) that appeared to be inferior to New Orleans despite beating them was Carolina.

You can say that the Saints had good players.....resiliant players.....good coaches.......good personnel, whatever........but there was nothing good about them as a "team" during the first month of this season.

If you recall at the time of that Saints/Falcons game.....the big storyline (aside from the Superdome re-opening) was that both teams were 2-0 and fighting for 1st place in the NFC South. Now, if you wanted to say that the Saints beat a "bad Falcon team", it would apply more to their 2nd meeting of the season than the first.

Atlanta was the top rushing team going into that game and we didn't have a good run D. A lot of folks had the Falcons going to the playoffs at that point in the season.

I will agree as I am sure everyone else will, The first three games this team had their heads in the clouds or their heads up their butts.

I just don't see how any of it really matters. Good team, bad team.... we will know what kinda team we have after this week. JAX is good even if Gray starts. This is a "good" team we are about to play.

See here's the problem. So you are happy being mediocre? I mean ok so we can't compete with the likes of the Steelers, Pats, Colts. We settle for that? We are ok with losing to some teams but not others? I mean I am happy to make the play offs as the next guy but to go out there and get embarrassed really... what are we accomplishing.

Let me put this in perspective. If you are a good team you need to beat the teams you should beat. The teams we lost to are far better than we are call it what you want but The Saints can not complete with the likes of the Colts.

BlackHoleSlam, the Saints are a good team, not great team, that played poorly in the first 4 games. Why are you arguing symantics? The Falcons were a bad team last year - period. They may have been 2-0 at the time, but there have been a few teams to start off a season 2-0 and not be good. Remember, you can be 2-0 and be lucky, instead of good. However, luck will eventually run out, but good teams continue to win. Are you a closet Falcons fan?

Oh I agree we are no where even close to the Colts right now. And we won't even dream about compairing our team to the PATS. And yes, I see your point and agree with you about getting to the playoffs just to get the hell beat out of us...that would be pointless. As fans I think just making the playoffs again is a milestone, considering the teams history. I know we expected more out of the team this year, but as football fans and not Saints fans we know that this team, right now, just needs to win it's next game and worry about playoff talk when the time comes.

We have to face reality, the Colts or the PATS are going to win the SB this year, and I am leaning more towards the PATS. Both have a truely great team. We, on the other hand, don't really know if we have a good or bad team right now. This week should gives us some insight into that question and give us the answer we all want to know.

Is this team "Good".

saintsfan1313 10-29-2007 02:23 PM

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

I kinda see where everyone is coming from, with NE and Indy being crazy good right now, and how they are guna win the SB....so should every team in the NFC jus quit cuz they have no chance??? F That.....the superbowl is ONE game. Its not a series like NBA or MLB. Once playoffs start, regular season records mean nothing. Any team can beat any team any given day. Honestly, the Colts can be beat, but a handful of teams right now. Are we there yet? no, is it possible to improve enough this season, get to the superbowl and play them and win? yes it is. Until we are mathematically out of the playoffs, we can win the superbowl. Thats it. No one can say we have no chance of winning, becuz there is a chance we can. Dont crown Indy or NE just yet....theres still alot of season....

Budsdrinker 10-29-2007 02:33 PM

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

All this talk about the Colts or Pats winning the Superbowl already is a bunch of crap.
Both teams are great but every team is beatable on any given Sunday. If the Pats keep going all out on teams once the outcome has been decided like they are doing right now some defensive player will take a cheap shot on Brady and take him out for the rest of the year and then the Pats are in trouble. There once was a mighty Colt team way back when that thought they were unbeatable and a young cocky QB from Alabama named Joe took care of that thought. So the bottom line is if you play with the confidence of a winner anything is possible and any team is beatable.

SapperSaint 10-29-2007 03:11 PM

Re: So, Saints, you've just beaten the three worst teams in the NFL....

All of the players in the NFL are the best players in the world. Any team IS beatable, but nonsense is nonsense. I must be the only crazy person here that thinks that the Saints GOING to the SB muchless WINNING the SB, is a 1-42 chance long shot. You guys are talking about playoffs and SuperBowl like we are 6-1 right now. I'm in no way dogging our team, I'm simply making the point that we are not ready to play teams on the same level as Indy or NE. If you think we can your blinding yourself as a Saint fan.

If we beat JAX like we did SF, I'll change my thought process. But don't sit there and pretty much call me stupid for pre-crowning NE. You can't compare Broadway Joe's victory over Baltimore to NE of 2007. Just because it happens in college football, how many times has it happen in the NFL in the past two decades?

Euphoria 10-29-2007 04:01 PM

Yeah the Colts can beat the Pats and the Pats can beat the Colts but as for as anyone esle you aren't living in reality if you think otherwise.

I have been on this band wagon from day one and NO RESPECT, I swear. We are a good team, not great, not close to winning a SB. We will need a lot of luck and no Faine just to get there. Sure YES we can get to the SB you I'll also use this disclaimer "because we are in the NFC".

I can agree with you that records aren't an indication how good your team is based on schedule of opponets and football gods have to be looking in on ya from time to time.

With this said you can see why we could say we over-achieved last year based on this arguement. We did look good against the 49ers but I'll agree lets keep this in perspective... its the 49ers, not the Pats. We might be the best 3-4 team out there but winning a SB is a bit of a reach.

LOL @ closet falcons fan.

You are basing your statement on what the Falcons later became. Even after the Saints game, the Falcons still ended up starting 5-2. Meaning that nearly halfway into the season, they were still a viable threat in the division. Just because they went on a 4-game losing streak and eventually folded into dogcrap doesn't mean that they weren't a "good" team at the time that the Saints played them in the Superdome.

The Saints started the 2002 season 6-1. During that season, they defeated Tampa Bay twice. Does that mean the Saints were never a good team during that season AT ANY POINT, since they "finished" by missing the playoffs?

I hear what you are saying but you have to look at it as only a mere 'prediction' base on how they are playing. They are leaps and bounds over any NFC team. That is something we need to learn and strive towards. Are we in that league, honestly ask yourself that question. The answer, unless you living in World of Warcraft or some other realm un known to mankind is -NO-.
