A Few Questions
OK, first off I will say I did not see the game, so I am looking for some answers. I want answers from fans that are not blinded by the winning streak screaming 11-5 for our record or some such nonsense. I want to be enthusiastic, but we play some decent teams coming up, and the line play has been my concern. just like it has been some others concern.
1. I know Brees did not take a sack. However, did he get hurried often? Was he hit a bunch? I saw a lot of plays where he was surrounded by the D but threw a good pass. 1a. Stinchcomb...how did he play? 1b. Goodwin, please tel me he can block better than Faine. 2. I know we had 2 sacks. Did we get close to the QB other times? Did we pressure and hit him in the pocket often? 2a. Did Jason David play well? I assume if we are pressuring the QB he and the secondary had a pretty good day. These two factors, more than ANYTHING else will determine how our team fares the rest of the season. I hope like nothing else we do these two things better each week as the season goes on and we make some noise. If we do not then it will be a regular season ending or a short vebture into the playoffs. |

Re: A Few Questions
1. Nope... line was great.
1a. 0 sacks allowed for the 4 straight game. He played well. 1b. Besides a false start call on him, he played well. Better than Faine? It's been 1 game. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Faine was playing very well the last 3 games he was in there. 2. Smith was hurried and hammered all game long. 2a. I really didn't pay attention to him... but by not hearing his name, it's a plus in my book. |

Re: A Few Questions
1. I would say Drew was hurried no more than any normal QB in the league. It was not a problem as far as I could tell. The biggest line mistakes I saw was false start crap.
1a. Didn't pay attention to him. 1b. I was pleased with him. opened up a couple of holes up the middle, and no one run through him to get to Drew. So I think he had a very good game also. 2. I would say....yes, they got close a few times. I don't think they blitzed enough. 2a. I never saw him during the game. And to me that is a good thing. He must have had his WR covered pretty good. The cover of the game was not the best I've seen in a long time. Poor camera angles and really didn't follow plays well. Kinda wierd if you ask me. It was almost like watching a JR college game on TV, if that makes any sense. Defense could have blitzed more, but I would still give them a B+ or A-. The last TB by SF was nothing more that SF saving a little face. Payton had changed out defensive players on SF's final drive. KK played if that tells you anything. By the way me and you are in a 8 point race in FFL, you may get me and end my winning streak. I have two folks to play tonight. |

Faine and Stinchcomb have been horrible at that all season, they have played better in a straight line as I call it lately, but pulling into space is a big part of being a lineman. I really hope Thomas can push, push and push some more on the D line. If the DT's cannot get push our DE's cannot get hurries/hits/sacks on the QB and our secondary gets picked on. If Young had Thomas' skill or Thomas had Young's motor that player would be a beast. Look at Peppers, no matter how much you hate the Panthers he is great, but he hasn't gotten the push from his interior linemates and his sack numbers have suffered. The same thing that has happened to Smith and Grant, while neither are as good as Peppers they are both well above average. |

Re: A Few Questions
Who was that wall that Robinson ran into on the sideline around 15-20 yards downfield when he kept breaking tackles? Hollis Thomas, I was impressed

Re: A Few Questions
11-5 ??? what??? we're going 12-4!!
ok sorry i couldn't resist so i went to the game and the saints looked great on both sides of the ball i had great 50 yrd line seats but it was hard to distiguish individual linesmen from that elevation i did record the game so i could get a different perspective ...probly gonna watch it tomorrow home crowd was a nonfactor - some were already heading for exits at halftime our first offensive series knocked the wind out of them and i don't think they ever recovered i do remember 2-3 times brees was hurried but dumped it off for short yardage at least lots of whodats in the stadium (even tailgating b4 the game) secondary held up well but i wasn't able to single out jason's play in particular The rest of the season: time will tell...we are improving each week in all areas of play and until that changes the only team capable of beating us are ourselves. hope this gives you some insight, maybe more to add after watching tape |

Re: A Few Questions
I have to agree with most on here. If you didn't hear Jason's name called out (which I didn't) he must have done ok.

Re: A Few Questions
I seen Jason David on two plays, one he assisted on a tackle on a screen pass and he broke up a pass...That's pretty much all I seen. Maybe sitting out a few weeks helped him study how to play man to man.
