Will Mare Be Cut ???
 

We need a kicker. The Saints really need to sign Vanderjeht or someone who is accurate and consistant. Mare is going to screw up a lot of games when it is close especially from 40 yards and out.

We need a dependable kicker guys. Mare scares me even when kicking a Extra Point.

No argument here. The guy is absolutely awful. You don't deserve to be on an NFL roster if you miss 6 field goals in 12 tries. There has to be somebody (what about Connor Hughes?) out there who can kick better.

i think vanderjagt was like 13 for 18 before dallas cut him. even that would be an improvement, plus he's got a great history in domes

I agree Mare needs to go. The guy can kick the ball a mile but it doesn't matter if he only puts it through the uprights half of the time!!

Atleast he pulled off a great onside kick. And most of the kickoffs went into the endzone.

For who? another so-so kicker that can not reach the end zone on kick offs? Add a kicker yes. cut no.

With how deep the Jags were playing and fell back, I think I could have pulled off that onside kick.

I don't think so. I was listening to coach Payton Radio interview on Sirius. It didn't sound like he was going to cut Mare anytime soon.

He said we need to get him on track. He like how Mare bounced back and made a FG late in the game. UGH i think were stuck with him.

He missed to fairly long kicks, both right. The first one he made and the last one he made, although he was booed going out onto the field. I thought coach would just go for it at the end, but wan't to take mercy on Jax and if he missed again, that would be an easy cut. But, he made it.
My other complaints about the man is he woofed on the KO return. He was at the 25-30 yard line in no position to make that tackle. And, he left the locker room before the press could interview him.

At this point, I agree with coach. Kicking is like golf, you can get the shanks easilly. I really think Mare can get it together.

You are exactly right. The 2 kicks he missed were pushed right indicating he is not finishing his kicks or following through. Just like a golf swing, if you don't finish your drives they all drift right. The last kick, he did finish it and boomed it right down the middle. It was still climbing as it hit the net. His problem is all in his mechanics which can be corrected.

I just can't believe that with 6 billion people on this planet we can't find one human that can kick field goals better than this guy. Vander"slice" is a total head case and I'm not for him either. It did look on one of Mare's misses that the holder held the tip of the ball toward the right, which if you hit the ball at the bottom would induce a slice. The holder may be to blame for one or two of these, but I just think Mare has no confidence he will make it when he steps on the field. The team really rallied around him on the last one he made and I like that but I just think he is too far gone mentally at this point and he is going to cost us in a big way before the season is over. Mark my words.

Yes, that onsides kick was well timed considering how the Jags were lined up. It was the same thing the falcons pulled on us 2 weeks ago. It's good to see payton remembered that play and kept it in his bag of tricks!

"Sure, we have not decided to do any of that, I felt good coming away from that game after he made that kick that we needed. We have gone through the process of bringing in kickers when he was injured and if we had any plans of bringing in anyone we would let you know, but right now our focus is on St. Louis."

Here is what he has amassed as our kicker. This is pathetic.
I say keep him for kickoffs, and get a new FG kicker. I saw the interview when Coach P said he was not happy with the points going into the half and that we should have been ahead by more. I can only assume, he was talking about the missed FG's by Mare.

If the dome started booing everytime Mare goes to kick a FG, one of two things will happen:
1. He starts making them.
2. Coach finally wakes ups and get a new FG Kicker.
