Re: David Patten

Actually, I started laughing when he tripped over his own feet. If we weren't ahead in the game it might not have been so funny to me. Patton has been a find for us this year. Even on some of the fantasy football shows yesterday, they were saying to pick him up and play him cause he was going to have one of those days. I didn't:confused:. I'm happy for him and hope he continues to do well.

P.S. I haven't yet gone back and looked at that play again but I will. Must have been a whistle,is my guess too.

I thought maybe there was a whistle too, if there was it was quick, because as soon as he hit the ground he popped up and spiked the ball. I think that Patten THOUGHT he was tripped up by a Jags player, or else he would have gotten up and continued whistle or no whistle.

I agree. It's good to see us have the weapons on the field to put defenses on their heals. When we block, throw, and catch the ball properly, we are very hard to stop. Moore may need to work on his TD dance, however! The only downside of the 3WR set is it makes it harder for Kearney to get in the game.

Speaking of dumb mistakes however, this whole game could have been much closer had we not got some breaks. The Patten play speaks out, but Bush's muffed punt was luckily recovered. The game was very close at that point and would have been a big momentum swing had the Jags recovered. Also, for Brees to have the fumble (almost 2) and for it not to cost us was lucky. We also had challenges go our way (that doesn't happen often!). Throw in some bad punt coverage and another big pass play for a TD against us, then there are reasons to be thanking our lucky stars for the victory.

The Saints earned this victory and I am happy as can be to see them back in contention. They've come very far in the last month and have every reason to be proud of what they've done. They just have to make sure they earn the next few victories like they did this one!

I wish that Henderson would get his act together being he could be a deep threat for the Saints.
Hoping he turns his season around, dame shame he can't catch because the guy has great speed.
Colston, Patton, Moore, Johnson and Miller isn't a bad set of weapons for Brees.
How about the big guy (Billy Miller) running down the field after a short catch?

I know it may be a little early for this, but the Saints should immediately try to work on extending Patten's contract. I believe he is only signed for this year, he deserves to get a 1 or 2 year extension. He is 33 but should have a couple more productive years ahead of him.

As for that Patten play, he is a crafty veteran so I would assume he heard a whistle.

I was watching in a bar with no sound (OK there was sound - the sound of the redskins squeaking by the jets)
I was impressed by patten and continue to think he is the vet leader that guides our WR corp
I am thankful to have him
