No Pass Rush Again
Unless we blitz, we still have no pressure on the QB's. Yes, we missed Grant, but he has been more of a run stopper, not a great rusher anymore. Lake, Wynn, etc are ok back-ups, but we need to have a dominate pass rush to have any chance of protecting our very vunerable db's. Simmons has done a good job on the outside and Fujita is better in coverage than blitzing. Simmoneau is still as much a joke to me as David is incompetent.

Re: No Pass Rush Again
Grant hurt us by not being able to play today.
Once he's back they'll get after the QB's again. We're hurting some on defense, it showed today. |

Re: No Pass Rush Again
No team in the NFL can consistently get away with only rushing the front four. The Saints, especially cannot get away with it. Give a guy 5 seconds to throw and he will kill you. Even an old man out of long retirement, like Kenny Stabler, would have killed the Saints today. It was unbelievable that Marc Bulger had as much time to throw as he had today. The few times Bulger was pressured the Saints made good plays. Yep, who cares about rushing when a soft defense lets a QB go 27-33. Antonio Pittman sure got some revenge today on his long run...

Re: No Pass Rush Again
I said in an earlier thread that if we didn't pressure Bulger with a lot of blitzing, he was going to sit back and kill us, this is one of those times I wish I was wrong, because he killed us. PLEASE CHANGE THE DEFENSIVE SCHEME!!!!!!!!!

Re: No Pass Rush Again
We can't afford to get tired of blitzing. We got four sacks and it seemed that they all came on sending extra help. All the other times Bruce and Holt got separation...and the ball. Our best bet is to keep our defense next to coach, sucking Gaterade, until they can go back out and get some 3-and-outs. The Rams had our poor defense sucking wind, and it showed. It was our own fault that our D spent that much time on the field. We have got to get to a more balanced attack Run vs Pass, that helps to get our D more rest. Jason David and his front-end, need all the rest they can get.

Re: No Pass Rush Again
we can get by with our defense against weak qb's.probably enough to win division.payton only trying to get enough healthy for division run.only way we go farther this year is a lot of luck.
