Saints LT Jammal Brown leaves with apparent knee injury

Nov. 11, 2007

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Saints starting left tackle Jammal Brown appeared to injure his left knee and had to be helped off the field late in the first quarter of New Orleans' game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

Saints officials called it a lower left leg injury and said his return was questionable.

Brown was blocking when middle linebacker Will Witherspoon came by on a blitz and sacked quarterback Drew Brees. Brees was knocked backward onto the back of Brown's lower leg, leaving Brown contorted in an awkward position for several seconds.

Brown was carted to the locker room for treatment.

It was the second knee injury this year for the former Pro Bowl pick, who missed most of training camp with a bone bruise on his right knee.

Re: Saints LT Jammal Brown

I do not want to jump to conclusions, but by the look on Jammal's face we may need to wait until next year to see him again. I hope it was just a lot of pain and nothing too serious. Can't always tell until it's completely evaluated. When Deuce went down I told my wife he looked to be gone for a couple of weeks, well...

o man that just makes this tough loss that much harder to deal with if he'll be out for any extended period of time because not only do we lose the game but we lose one of our best blockers, he was finally returning to his form the last few seasons

Well either way he will probably miss some time. So we get to see Strief and maybe Bushrod will make an appearance and get some playing time. I really hate the lack of playing time for these young kids this year. One play at least.

Re: Saints LT Jammal Brown

Good thing we drafted some quality players to sub in times like this.

Oh, what's that you say? We've got 5 TE's but no 2007 drafted linemen with meaningful experience? And of the 9 offensive linemen on the roster, 4 are nursing reasonably significant injuries?

Uh, oh.
