Mouse Traps, Empty Bandwagons, Jazz Funerals
Apparently the decomposing, fly-covered bull Payton's had in the locker room this past week hasn't worked either. And they wonder why that bandwagon stays empty.
And as for the defense? STOP SOMEBODY, throw a hand up, tip a pass, sack a quarterback, make a tackle - what a mess. Fujita and Will Smith are the only two on that defense that I can hang my hat on. I've already held my own "mock" funeral for the Saints this season, and I'm NOT digging this one up. |

Yeah, that was something I didn't understand. For a team that has a long history of pain and suffering, why would you want bury the most sucessful year in franchise history during a mock funeral. To me, you bury most of the other years.

I agree. Last year was the year to remember...to use as your platform to launch to even higher heights. What does he do? He buries it...forget about it! This is a new year ya-da-ya-da... I know what he was trying to do and where he was trying to go, but he took a wrong turn - now we are lost and he's too stubborn to ask for directions. Even the help he has riding with him can't read a compass. This certainly is a new year. Totally different than last year. No passion, no fire, no intensity, no consistency, poor execution, mental mistakes, you name it. Its time to toe the line, players and coaches. Everybody drop and give me fifty - Mare, you can give me twenty.

Re: Mouse Traps, Empty Bandwagons, Jazz Funerals
I have some nominees for the 2007 Jazz Funeral:
1. A #42 jersey. 2. A #29 jersey. 3. A #2 jersey. 4. A tape of the 2007 Draft 5. The bunch formation 6. The reverse 7. The fake reverse 8. The double reverse 9. The fake double reverse 10. The empty backfield sets 11. Devery Henderson's hands 12. Payton's Tony Award for theatrical achievment 13. Pierre Thomas and Mike Karney...oh wait they already got buried. |

I agree that Fujita & Smith are the core players, after that the scale drops sharply down. Time to look at the draft and rebuild the D. Just can't explain the drop from last season, maybe the O kept them off the field so much that we didn't notice. I still say as long as Benson owns this team the powers to be won't gives us a break!

The defense was just as bad last year. So, what did we do? Replace Freddie with David (-1), got Simmons has not played enough. Got KK (same thing, not enough playing time). Got Harper back (oh boy, hasn't he lit it up)
The problem was/is the offense was much better last year (Deuce) with Colston being a surprise, Devery running deep routes and Reggie doing he Reggie thing. With Deuce out and no inside running, Devery missing in action and Colston doubled, we are very inconsistent on offense (drops, fumbles, ints, etc). |

Most, if not all coaches do that. They put flyers or things around the locker room as “motivation”. Whether it works or not, that’s another story. You just don’t hear much about them… unless someone gets hurt (see Jacksonville 2005)
