The List is Long
Everyone wants to pile on Jason David. Trust me, I am on that pile. However, the list of inadequate football players on this team is long.
Mark Simenoux, Scott Shanle - These two wouldn't start for any other team in the NFL. They are backups at best and AFL players at worst. I can't remember hearing Simenoux making one play this year. NOT ONE. Bullocks- Bites on play action like a rookie. He knows Jason David can't cover anyone and he is supposed to be our last line of defense? I mean could Andre Johnson have been more wide open for that TD yesterday? Where was Bullocks? Biting that's where. Jeff Faine - Turd Bomb this year. Any coincidence that when Goodwin was in we had at least a semblance of a running game and were winning games? He consistantly gets blown up by the opposing D Line. Stinchcomb - Just getting abused this year. I can't take anymore of this guy at RT. He is a scrub. Mare - WOW you finally made one. I could see that really boosted the coachs confindence in you in the third quarter when we decided to go for it on 4th and 10 from the exact same spot on the field. That's my list of the top offenders. As you can see we have a lot of holes to fill this offseason. If I missed anyone please feel free to join in. |

Re: The List is Long
Pretty accurate sadly. I would want Shanle around for depth and I don't mind Faine and Stinchcomb, I just think both can be upgraded. Josh Bullocks and Simoneaux are terrible though. I'm sure a few people will defend Bullocks, but he has no aggression, his insticts are poor and he is not good in coverage or run support. For everything Roman Harper is, Josh Bullocks is not. He has good athleticism but his deficiencies counter act it.
We need impact players at FS, CB and MLB. We have some players that make enough plays to give a glimpse of a decent defense, we just need some of these enormous voids shored up to actly achieve that status. |

The 3 players that played poorly on the offensive line against the Texans were...
Stinchcomb, Strief, and Evans. |

Re: The List is Long
OK. I completely agree with your points there... some more than others, but, I’d like to add, you are not counting the demoralizing effect that “3rd down” David getting beat for a long TD or a long 3rd down conversion has on the team.
Think about it: yesterday, the Saints d-line makes a play, (forced fumble, recovery), the offense capitalizes with a score, albeit a field goal, but a long one by Mare, everything is good… then next possession, long bomb beats “3rd down” for a TD. Rams game: every time, every time the Rams had 3rd and long, who got beat for the 1st down? Yes, Jason “3rd down” David. I can only imagine how demoralizing it must be for the guys up front to see David easily give up the long 3rd down or the long TD. It’s just too simple.. need a big play? Call 3rd down’s number. |

Re: The List is Long
Weren't we asking this same question about Aaron Brooks every week to Haslett a couple of weeks ago. Coaches for some reason either don't want to appear foolish for starting the wrong people in the first place or are just too close to the situation to be impartial. Payton keeps raving about David's work ethic and how he busts his tail at practice. Here's a news flash Payton, it takes hard work AND TALENT. One without the other and you are regressing. David is not talented enough and if you can't see that through the 7 games he has played in then I have some oceanside property I'd like to sell you in Kansas.
