It's the turnovers stupid!

Even the lowly 49ers,Rams,Ravens are better. Who is on top? New England @+13, Colts/Chargers @+9. Not only do we give it away too much, but having only 11 takeaways is last in the league as well. In their six loses, they have turned it over 17 times! Last season seemed to be the same way, in the minus as well. We need to do a better job of protecting the ball AND getting turnovers. Stripping and catching an interception every now and then |

Re: It's the turnovers stupid!
I don't think you'll find anyone on this board that will disagree with your point on turnovers. The Texans game being a prime example of a game where we should have been up 21 to 7 if it were not for the turnovers. I'm sure its part simptom of having to play from behind/ being one dimensional on offense/ OL not providing enough "passing" lanes for Drew/ an overstreched reciever corps/ Defensive secondary that struggles to cover much less get into position to pick/ LB's that struggle to tackle much less strip runners/ Not much pressure on opposing QB's/ Anyone else care to take up as my fingers are hurting...

Re: It's the turnovers stupid!
Pressure on the quarterback was almost nonexistant. No one on the defense played with any passion. Looked to me like they were just there to collect a paycheck. Fujita plays, but he doesn't have a lot of help. I think Hollis Thomas plays pretty hard too, but no one that plays next to him has any umph to them. Clancy has helped when they let him play and I'm very pleased with Boykin. For being basically a brand new guy, he at least tries.Sure he makes mistakes, but he's busting his butt trying. If Lake would try half as hard as Thomas,Boykin or Clancy, our defensive line would be acceptable. Our defensive ends disappeared in the Texan game. Where the hell was Charles? Smith can't do it by himself. Grant hurt or not needs to step up his game, he got his money and he's a good motivator but he needs to play.

Re: It's the turnovers stupid!
the biggest difference between this year and last year is summed up in one word: DUECE. We werent one dimensional, we kept defenses honest, our drives were longer. Reggie is not a feature back. DUECE is. He can pound you down and then reggie comes in a chops em up. We are missing that. And we all know the problems on our JV defense.
