5 games left ....

The Bucs have a 2 game lead in the NFC South division and with their 5 remaining games left I don't see that changing dramatically. Let's take a look;

Bucs remaining 5;
- @ New Orleans. Garcia is banged up, Saints defense is playing good, Saints redzone offense is productive. I'd say we (saints) are the Bucs biggest threat of their 5 remaining games.

- @ Texans. Texans are 5-6 and showed they can move the ball and score points, however I just don't see them beating the Bucs if they're healthy.

- host Atlanta. Uh, lets just go ahead and give the Bucs a W here and move on.

- @ San Fran. The 9ers are struggling, I think they're what 3-8? It's a good bet Bucs will rack another W here.

- host Carolina. The Panthers are one of these teams i think Xan calls "wounded and confused". Bucs should handle this one at home.

Conclusion; even if the Saints beat the Bucs this sunday, that still leaves the Bucs with a pretty good chance of going 11-5 for the season and clinching the NFC South.

I would break down the Saints 5 remaining games, but whats the point. If the Saints can win 4 of the remaining 5 and finish 9-7 that might land them a Wildcard spot. But right now the Saints are in the middle of the pack for a Wildcard birth. The Giants(7-4) and Lions(6-5) are the current Wildcard leaders in the NFC.

I know alot can happen in 5 games, but based on the trends this is how it's looking. Anyone see something different?

San Fran looks to be turning the corner. Gore was running well finally - right after I gave up on him in Fantasy football - and Dilfer is being Dilfer. The Bucs would do well to not overlook them. The texans will be tough, too. I could see three losses in there, especially if Garcia is a hurt as he was acting in the postgame Sunday.

As for the Saints, they need to win out. That's the only shot at the PO's. Sure NYG and DET are imploding, but I'm not going to even get my hopes up for a WC birth.

Re: 5 games left ....

Corrections. The schedual I have is this:

vs. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS Dec 02 3:15PM

@ ATLANTA FALCONS Dec 10 7:30PM ESPN

vs. ARIZONA CARDINALS Dec 16 12:00PM

vs. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES Dec 23 12:00PM

@ CHICAGO BEARS Dec 30 12:00PM

What it all boils down to is we must win Sunday. Then we must win in Atlanta. End of story. The other games mean nothing without these two W's.

As for the Tampa we need to beat them thats all there is to it. Our season ends with a loss. I think you could see a couple of teams playing spoilers against them. The way the 49ers played last week I am glad we have them done with and out of the way. They looked very good. Houston can play with any team on any given Sunday. They are a toss up. Atlanta is a scary group. They have my vote to beat either us or the Bucs by the years end. I do not like facing teams with nothing to loss at this time of the year. Carolina? God may decide to help them who knows. But they to have nothing to loss. I would rather our schedule than theres. At least ours is against teams still in the hunt.

I wonder how many points Devon Hester is going to put up on our special teams during the final game. Notice we're in Chicago for that matchup - again. I've got to say that guy is just phenomenal. Uncanny ability to find the end zone.

I don’t want to take anything away from Hester, because what he’s done, he’s done, however, if you saw the game last Sunday, you tell me who can’t run back a punt or kick-off with that type of blocking. Especially the kickoff return, the guy took it, and ran straight through the middle of the field to the goal line untouched, without making any cuts, and there were these 2 perfect walls of Bears parting the middle of the field.

If you remember a couple of years ago when Dante hall was all the rage returning kicks, he would run all over the field and dodge and juke until he found a hole. If you look at Hester’s returns, most, if not all, are b-lines to the endzone.

Again, props to Hester for doing what he’s doing, but to me, what’s truly special is the blocking of the other 10 guys.
