Stecker giving Saints options in backfield

Then Bush was slowed by a bruised shin last week, and Stecker finally stepped to the forefront against Carolina. He had season-highs of 13 rushes and 42 yards and also caught two passes for 8 yards. Stecker said he never allowed himself to get impatient even while getting just seven touches in the first game of McAllister’s absence (the first meeting with the Panthers), three touches against the Falcons, four touches against St. Louis and two touches (no carries) against Houston. “(Against Carolina) it kind of evolved into what (Payton) said and I got more involved and got more carries,” Stecker said. “I always knew that when I got the opportunity, I wanted to take full advantage of it. Now I’m getting an opportunity and I’m showing that I can handle the load if I need to. |
