What's Up With Reggie???

Aside from not living up to the hype when he was coming out of college, he seems to have regressed in the last few games. He had stone hands in that game and has been dropping passes for a while now. I've seen Drew yelling at him at least twice, he constantly looks dejected on the sidelines, he hasn't broken any big plays all season. He's gotta be frustrated with himself and the team. Is the love affair over? Is it time to go in a new direction?

You just opened a whole can of worms. Reggie's draft was purely a buisness decision it wasn't the best football decision. He wasn't the best football player that would help you win games. He just puts butts in seats.

For me, it's easy to look back almost two years out and say that Reggie isn't as good as Hawk, MJD, Addai, etc...and I realize that you called it. That's a great prediction. Almost the entire country was shocked that Reggie went to #2 and most called it a windfall for the saints. Hell, Carsserly might have lost his job over picking Mario.

Honestly, that's all irrelevant today, though. We don't get a mulligan and honestly, the 06 draft was probably the best in Saints history, top to bottom. So my questions are, do we shop Reggie? Does he have any trade value? Does he want out? Would anyone take him? Can Payton just not figure out how to use him? Would it be different if Deuce were healthy?

even tho the offense was terrible this season when duece was healthy, i cant help but think its cause he is not around that reggie is playing bad, reggie has to do more then he ever has to..if he was force to do it himself at usc then he wouldnt have been as good, reggie needs to share the backfield with a true running back, someone else that can get 15-20 rushes while reggie only 5-10 rushes and catches passes......reggie cant handle the work load, we all knew that before we drafted him, before we knew we had a chance to draft him, we all said he wasnt an nfl-type everydown back.

But that is here nor there. He is not in B&G. Reggie is and now we need to get him going.

Teams don't go in new direction after investing this type of coin on a player, within 5years. Bush is in integral part of the scheme, and is trailing Willie Parker by 1/10 YPC. The Saints' OL would never be confused with the Steelers. Bush is also leading Alexander, among others. His contributions in the passing game are beyond valuable, even if he's merely a decoy. He really doesn't get enough carries to establish a rhythm. Bush isn't a disappointing top 5 pick. One could question Eli's stature, though...

I'm starting to feel that he's not the type of RB that can win you close games, he's just in his second season so I'll hold off on calling him a bust.

Still you have to look at how he is being used. We don't have an over powering OL and very rarely does Bush get Karney in the backfield. I think right now it is too early to give up on Reggie, I think we need to compare him to Tiki Barber. When Barber first came in the league he was used primarly as a 3rd down back until he learned how to run in the NFL. I think you have to give him another year and check his progress by midseason next year.
