Confidence in Payton

With the play call that basically cost us the game, I am wondering if the players are having confidence issues with Payton as a coach. If the coach is calling plays that will lose games and player confidence heads south then so does the team. We will see how this team responds for the next 4 games, if they tank it or play hard for coach Payton??

Payton will learn from this bad experience. In fact, if he studies the tape of how Gruden handled his aggressiveness with control, he'll be an even better play-caller for the future.

Then cut those players. The door is cracked open its not closed yet. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.........HELLO...... YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.

I don't think the players will question him, if no one haven't to this point, they won't now. Payton just has to learn from this and move on.

He resurfaces!!!!!!!!!!!! good to see ya.
No Sean has my vote still. I think he will learn. The statement Henderson would still be running if the pitch worked is not correct. The game tape will show the panthers did not bite hard on the misdirection. Any how Sean did learn something. I HOPE

If the Panthers bit on that play all the way in Charlotte and after their game was over they are worse than they looked last Sunday. LOL

IMO the players still believe in their coach and will continue to play hard for him and they know he'll turn this team around sooner than later.
Sean called a bad play at the wrong time on the game, don't you think he still feels bad for his mistake?, I say yes he does.

Thats probably one of my favorite qoutes from Herm. I still have confidence in Payton. The team needs to speak up and say no Coach I dont like this play or hey Coach how about if we do this on this play. Reggie needs to open his mouth to Payton and tell him what he feels comfortable doing. Its about communication between the coach and players and I see none going on. If we have any shot of winning we need to communicate.

Remember how "Instantaneously" Sean Payton adjusted his game plans for more running?

NFC Conference Game and counting, still haven't seen the fruit of it.

Remember all the "success" we had with blitzing?

Still don't see any type of commitment to blitzing and attacking defense.

The only vibes I get from this whole dink n' dunk regime of Paytons is that they're a little too "smart" for their own good. A little too theory and artsy. A little too pro-character, rather than smack you in the mouth (the quintessential hallmark of FOOTBALL).

Merry Christmas!

I think he feels bad for it, but he has a pattern of not learning. We almost lost the Philly playoff game on the same play at the same time in the 4th.

Payton's passing fetish is costing the team wins.

Re: Confidence in Payton

I couldn't begin to know if the players are starting to lose confidence in him. I know I have. It seems to me that we're running the exact same stuff in the same situations as last year - sort of the football equivalent of the one-trick-pony. Last year, it was taking people by surprise. This year they've had a year of tape to study and they're blowing those same old tired plays up - not very surprising really since Payton cannot seem to do anything else. Payton never seems to make adjustments.

Despite the fact that I can't "know" how the players are feeling, I can see signs that the team is coming apart. People are making a big deal out of how Brees was yelling at Reggie during the last game. Fact is, Brees has been yelling at his receivers for a month now. The players still talk like they're holding it together but what I've been seeing lately seems to show evidence of some breaking down in the unity.
