Cut the cutesy stuff
EDITORIAL: Cut the cutesy stuff- NOLA.com
Offensive lineman Jon Stinchcomb argued Sunday night on television that the offense should have made the play work. Well, that would've been lovely. Except that Jamaal Brown couldn't hold a block against a rookie 50 pounds lighter than he is. And Reggie Bush and Devery Henderson are known for bobbling the ball on a regular basis. So the blame comes back to the coach. Mr. Payton acknowledged as much in his post-game comments. That was "probably the worst job I've done as a coach since I've been here," he said. |

Re: Cut the cutesy stuff
Boy, I sure hope Payton read that! That was a stupid play call. Sean needs to get a grip, before calling plays like that again.

Re: Cut the cutesy stuff
you call that play in the first half when you're UP by 27. But not when the game in on the line.

Cute draft in 2006 worked out
Cute draft in 2007 has not Cute moves with players in the pre season did not Cute play calling will be a big factor in a disappointing season I think cute in 2007 may go down as SP's anti Christ phrase in coaching. |

Good for Tom Benson for standing behind his man. I really am glad to hear him standing up for him...but it was still a stupid play call.

Re: Cut the cutesy stuff
for once cheers to benson.payton is a good young COACH.give him time and support.keep changing and we'll never be winners.i just hope we start developing our young players better for next year and off-season moves are better.just keeping carney,or calling " MORTEN ANDERSON "would have us still in contention.a good corner &safety and we'd be leaders.payton is not that far from being a top coach.let's give him a break.he acknowledges his mistakes.better than most

I still believe in Payton but that was a stupid call. I'm also happy that benson stood up for his coach. It looks good to the team and us as fans. The more good Benson ays the better it will be for this team knowing that their owner stands behind them.

Re: Cut the cutesy stuff
It felt stupid walking away from the Dome Sunday night, but after I've had time to think about it, the 'call' has lessoned somewhat. It (the call) took 10 seconds, the game was really lost in the other 59:50.
I like the fact the Payton stood up and took the blame and Benson standing behing his boy. |

Re: Cut the cutesy stuff
Yeah, I am with you on the game really being lost in the other 59:50. After I had time to cool off, the Saints are actually very lucky that they did not get blown out. To let a QB like Luke McClown have his way was totally unacceptable. Not to mention that our offense could not really get it going either. Still, that play call was horrible. On the other hand had it worked, we would all be applauding Sean Payton for calling a gutsy play that "saved the season". Oh well... Maybe a couple more wins and regroup for next year.
