Michigan Floated $30 Million Package To Payton
MICHIGAN FLOATED $30 MILLION PACKAGE TO PAYTON
A league source tells us that the initial discussions between Michigan and Saints coach Sean Payton included reference to a financial package worth $30 million over ten years. Payton, however, had no interest in the job, and the talks went no farther. As we've previously said, each passing day without a hire in Ann Arbor leads us to believe that A.D. Bill Martin is waiting for an NFL coach. If Cam Cameron is fired by Miami, it could be him. There also have been rumblings about the possibility that Michigan will pursue Marvin Lewis of the Bengals and/or Mike Shanahan of the Broncos. Re: Michigan Floated $30 Million Package To Payton
If Michigan really talked that kind of money, Payton may be bluffing about having no interest in the job. Payton knows he still have a slim shot at getting into the playoffs, there would no reason he would want his team to think he is jumping ship. Smart move on Payton's part. On the other hand he could be very sincere about having no interest. He has been in the NFL for a long time now. I guess we will find out once the season is over...

GOD I HATE MICHIGAN!....first they go after Miles, that doesnt work so they go after Payton. Later they regroup to discuss the only other direction that would kill me....ohh yeah, lets go after Rodriguez from WVU. (Im not even going into them stealing our basketball coach last year)

Well, Rodriguez is the man. He sure has improved his situation, from getting the cold shoulder from Tulane who went with Scelfo (ha ha ha) to multi million dollar contract from Big Blue. Good for him. At least now when WVU falls back to the cellar of the Big East, LSU has one less BCS contender to worry about!
