Worried about Philly
I'm worried, plain and simple
I was watching the Eagles play Dallas yesterday to sort of get a preview of how they're playing right now. My single summary comment here is; their record does not describe their team. Their defense was flying all over the place making plays and getting monstrous pressure on the QB with those crazy all-angle blitzes they like to call. They were seemingly able to stuff the run completely. Their offense was able to open holes for Westbrook and we all know dangerous that guy can be in space. His "dropping at the one" to seal the game tells me a lot about how their players see the team as top priority. I know that many wouldn't have done that, but Westbrook did. McNabb is slower than he used to be but he made some plays by moving around in the pocket buying time. What to be optimistic about. The Eagles defense focused on covering T.O. and still weren't able to get it done reliably. Were it not for Tony Romo's horrible accuracy, I saw a lot of plays that could have been made. If we can protect Drew Brees and he's having an "on" day, we may be able to take advantage of that. With that being the only thing I see as a big plus, and it being contingent on some "ifs"; I am worried..... |

Coming back to New Orleans won't be easy. The Saints look determined to succeed (in spite of past losses) and more focused as a team than I've seen this year. I think we have the right players in the right positions for Philly, we win. Grammatica should be Automattica!! Saints 24 Eagles 23 |
Re: Worried about Philly
Beating the Cowboys was no easy task... however like you said Frenzy, if Brees is having his on game, I think we'll have a lot of success against their secondary. We run a lot of short stuff and Witten was able to dominate. We should be able to take advantage of that with our passing game.
We've beat Philly a couple of times last year I believe... and I'm optimistic we'll do it again. Limit Westbrook and prevent any long bombs to Curtis down field are keys. Westbrook is going to have a good game... we all know that. Just don't let him have THAT good of a game. |
Re: Worried about Philly
I don't trust Philly. We're probably a home dog anyway, given how well we defend the crib. I'd say we're a 3 point underdog.
Gotta bring it or it's over. Every game's a playoff now. Philly 31 Saints 13 |
Re: Worried about Philly
I'm worried about the Saints/Eagles game, as well. It looks every bit like a let down game for us, the fans. But I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Worried about Philly
I hope we are dogs... we seems to play better when we are.
Edit: I just checked the lines and we're giving Philly 3 points. |

I think we can beat them if we play like champions, but they are a LOT better than their record shows and I'm nervous. Any half-stepping at all (like the two fumbles lost this week), and they will wipe the floor with us. |
Re: Worried about Philly
I'm pumped about this game. I just love the budding rivalry.
Philly's probably P.O.ed after two losses last year, but it'll be a different Saints team Sunday. Without Reggie and Deuce, they're getting the passing game in full force. |

Brian Westbrook-RB-Eagles Dec. 17 - 12:51 pm et
Brian Westbrook suffered a knee contusion in Sunday's game. It's reportedly the same knee bruise that's hindered Westbrook only slightly all season. Expect him to be limited in or miss some practices this week. Source: philadelphiaeagles.com Takeo Spikes-LB-Eagles Dec. 17 - 12:48 pm et Eagles WLB Takeo Spikes tore his rotator cuff in Sunday's win. The Eagles hope Spikes can continue to play with the injury. If Spikes needs surgery and misses the final two weeks, Omar Gaither would likely slide to the weak side with Stewart Bradley possibly taking over at middle linebacker.
