Backups played lead roles in win
The Daily Advertiser - www.theadvertiser.com - Lafayette, LA
Tailback Aaron Stecker, who entered fall training camp fourth on the depth chart, ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Billy Miller, a season-long backup to free agent acquisition Eric Johnson, had three crucial catches for 39 yards, including an 11-yarder in the fourth quarter to help the Saints preserve the victory. Safety Kevin Kaesviharn, who was making only his third start of the year, had five pass breakups, including one which resulted in an interception. "We have a lot of guys when their number is called, they have to be ready to play," Kaesviharn said. "We have a lot of depth on the team and there's been many times throughout the year where guys have had to step in. And I think that's what happens when teams win championships." |
