I know this may not belong on here but I really think the MODs will agree that it does.

I received an email from Joe Irvin 's(JOESAM) nephew yesterday that Joe passed away this past Friday. He wanted me to let everyone know that Joe passed away in his sleep and was at peace.

I never met Joe, as I feel sure many of you didn't, but heartache is still there. It is very hard to understand how you can miss someone you've never met, but I will miss him very much. I know Joe has gone home to the Lord our Father, and that is what sould give us all peace.

I love you Joe and will miss you Bro.

It's a shock. I don't think Halo knows. I'm Halo's nephew, but how do I tell him. Halo knew Joe and Joe came to visit and stuff.

I've been trying to confirm this since yesterday by calling Joe and his phone seems to have a generic voicemail. Joe didn't have a lot of family, but he had a lot of friends.

I knew him personally, he came to New Orleans and we went to dinner at the Embers and recently he was calling me a lot. I think he knew he was very ill.

I want everyone to know that JoeSam was more concerned about this forum and the site running well than his own health. It was like he talked about that for the last few weeks and even sent me several emails and left messages for other mods that he was going on vacation.

Well he went on a good trip, and in his sleep.

When I hear more I'll post it.

My prayers to his family and all of you here at BnG today. I had also gotten to know Joe very well and will miss him terribly, and as I said at our board today, I believe he'll now spend his Sunday's on the sidelines with our team Rest In Peace Joe, you will be missed more than you know.

I find it amazing how much this news has impacted me. I never met Joesam, but find myself deeply moved with sympathy and feelings of tremendous loss. Over the years of reading his opinions, his passion for our beloved and sometimes hapless Saints, his analysis and experience, and his tireless efforts to maintain peace and civility on this board; I feel I've come to call this man I never met "friend" - at least for my part. Rest in peace, friend.

Didn't know him all that well, but he always seemed that he wanted to run a clean, family-friendly forum for people to discuss (vent about) the Saints. R.I.P. JoeSam, I hope the Saints can get in the playoffs for you this year.
