NOLA: Eagles planning to show Saints no mercy
Eagles planning to show Saints no mercy
Philly hopes to ruin N.O.'s playoff run Friday, December 21, 2007By Jon Marks PHILADELPHIA -- The man who suddenly has been dubbed the most unselfish running back in history -- by virtue of his decision to take a knee at the 1-yard line that allowed the Philadelphia Eagles to run out the clock Sunday in Dallas -- says he will show the Saints no such mercy Sunday at the Superdome. If Brian Westbrook gets a whiff of the goal line, this time he's going to cross it. And if that touchdown should be the one that ends New Orleans' playoff hopes, so much the better. "We want to spoil somebody else's season," said Westbrook, who has rushed for 1,191 yards on 254 carries and seven touchdowns and has caught 83 receptions for 705 yards and five touchdowns this season. "We've had our season not go the way we want it to, so we definitely want to spoil someone else's season. "But more importantly than that, we want to get on a roll so we can prepare ourselves for next season. There is definitely value in that. Eagles planning to show Saints no mercy- NOLA.com NOTES: With veteran Takeo Spikes on injured reserve with a torn rotator cuff, the Eagles will have a new middle linebacker Sunday. Rookies Stewart Bradley and Akeem Jordan likely will share time in the middle, with leading tackler Omar Gaither also taking over some of Spikes' duties. . . . The Eagles have a 15-10 record against the Saints, but they haven't won in New Orleans since 2000 when they were in the midst of six-game winning streak against the Saints. . . . Former Saints defensive end Darren Howard lost his starting job early in the year and has played sparingly since, accumulating just 10 tackles (six solo) and one sack. |
"We may have lost the game, but you'll be hurting tomorrow." Doug Atkins

Re: NOLA: Eagles planning to show Saints no mercy
If they want a fight let them fights some Saints fans after they watch a replay of the Bucs Saints game and that ill fated reverse play (cute) at an important time in the game.
I got my money on the Saints fans and let me tell you something I would love to be one of them. McNabb has never won the big game and never will. He seems smart enough during press conferences but doesn't have the moxy or intelligence on the field. He was cute, when it was cute to have a running QB that everyone thought could pass to, but those days are over. McNabb is on the way out in Philly, Leftwich washed up and Vick is gone. So if they want a fight tell them to bring a bazooka because they need it. All we need is a couple of sticks, fertilizer and some yarn. |
