What Defense?
I hear ya. Looking back on last year, opposing offenses we\'re able to pretty much do what they wanted because of a lack of speed on our defense. When I look at all the top defenes in the league, the one thing they have in common is speed.
Looking at this years defense, I think the speed we now have, will keep teams from exploiting ceratain areas, like they were able to do last year. I\'m looking foward to seeing the defense in preseason, but unitl there are some real bullets fired, I really won\'t know. |

A zone defense doesn\'t mean you can\'t be aggressive. The DB\'s can play zone and allow 1 or 2 of the LB\'s to blitz. This type of zone requires speed to react, which we have now.
Zone also allows our secondary to play facing the ball, so they can see the QB take off, or that screen pass develop that burned us so often last year. Zone isn\'t necessarily a bend but don\'t break style, unless you play a soft zone. A mixture of both is absolutely necessary. If disguised well the other team is clueless. |
Whether we agree or disagree; its all for Him.

I guess this all rests on Venturi\'s shoulders. I wonder if the defense plays poorly, if Haslett will truely take the helm and call the defense.
