DOUG ATKINS LARGER THAN LIFE, EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME- NOLA.com
Upon seeing Atkins for the first time as he lumbered down the hallway at St. Paul's School in Covington, Times-Picayune beat writer Ed Staton said: "You said to yourself, this mountain man wasn't born. The Arctic ice cracked, an explosion followed and this awesome creature came out." This was great !!! " Win One For JoeSam " |

Re: Doug Atkins Larger Than Life
My older brother saw Doug Atkins at a Gentilly-neighborhood restaurant in 1968. He asked Doug to call me at home to say "hello", and Doug Atkins called my home.
I'll never forget my Mom calling me to the phone to talk to Doug Atkins. I was playing pee-wee football at the time, so, it was a real thrill to talk to him. |
