This was a Snot Knocker Game
Game notes
Saints CB Mike McKenzie left the game with a sprained right knee after he narrowly missed recovering McNabb's fumble on the Eagles' first TD of the game. ... Eagles S Brian Dawkins left the game with what team officials termed a right foot injury. He's scheduled for an MRI on Monday. ... Eagles LB Omar Gaither left the game with a quad contusion. ... Saints reserve running back Jamaal Branch broke his leg on a special teams play. We knew coming into the game this was going to be a snot knocking game. But I never imagine so many players would be blowing snot bubbles. This game shows we are close to becoming a really good team. But we need to get an attitude on the defensive side of the ball. The offense is so close it. I mean so close. If and only if we could have had a healthy team on the field for those two drives in the fourth were we got inside the 30...we maybe talking differently this morning. Settling for FG was a killer but and I mean a big BUT... we showed a lot of moxie yesterday. |

I've got to agree with you Hagan. We're close. Closer than we've ever been, IMO. And that's a pretty damn encouraging thought.

Re: This was a Snot Knocker Game
How did I miss that Branch has a broken leg?!
And is it wrong of me to say that I was glad to see Gaither leave the game? Too bad it couldn't have been Cole, too. I love our offense. I would love it even more if Henderson could learn how to hold onto a ball. I still say we need someone with lingering 'roid rage on the defensive side of the ball...or maybe someone who just got out of prison. *lol* |

Re: This was a Snot Knocker Game
Ray Lewis? No, he hasn't actually been to prison, has he?
I want to see Mephistopholes drafted at CB in the first round. Asmodeus at MLB in the second. Baalzebub in the third at S. Then get Haynesworth and any other bad tempered meat we can get in FA. Could you imagine the team we could have? |

Re: This was a Snot Knocker Game
Close to being a good team? I think you have to define what is a good team. Injuries happen and good teams find a way to win. This game was everything that we are not. We aren't a knock your nose into the ground team. The Eagles could have scored on us at will and when they needed to they showed they could stop our offense. We got our butts handed to us by a below than 500 team.
Seriously can you imagine our Saints going face to face with the Pats or Colts? It wouldn't be pretty. We have a long way to go and I think this is going to be the off season that makes or break this team and Payton. |

Re: This was a Snot Knocker Game
It did. An 0-4 start, outscored something like 100 points in the first four games. Do I remember that right? So yeah, we all knew this wasn't the way to continue from the NFC Championship game. The foreshadowing was definitely there.
