Injuries play key role in New Orleans' disappointing season

The News Star - www.thenewsstar.com - Monroe, LA

The Saints (7-8) lost reserve tailback Jamaal Branch to a broken leg on the game's opening kickoff. Later it was starting cornerback Mike McKenzie and starting receiver Marques Colston.

"That's all across the league, everybody deals with injuries," Saints defensive end Will Smith said. "But we've definitely had more than our share this year and it's been tough to deal with. Losing guys not only on offense, but losing guys on the defensive line, linebackers, defensive backfield — it just makes it difficult to get into a rhythm."
