Dont believe everything you read...

This is going to be a big offseason for the franchise as a whole. I am going to predict the following things to happen before the summertime:

-Rick Mueller will be fired.
-At least 3 assisstant coaches will be fired.
-Deuce will be RELEASED! (He is 29, two major knee injuries, and makes a ton of money...all that equals ZERO TRADE VALUE so get that thought out of your minds now.)
-There will finally be an attempt to really overhaul the defense.
-Jason David will still be on the roster.
-Reggie Bush will be told to grow up, man up, and stop only thinking about himself.
-Robert Meachem will be healthy and he will be the guy everyone talks about leading up to training camp and about how now things are like "Night and Day" when compared to his first year.
-The Saints will draft yet another RB relatively high in the draft.
-Marques Colston will get a long term deal from the Saints.
-The Saints will be the odds on favorite to win the NFC South before camp starts.

Those are my 10 predictions for the Saints over the next 6 months...lets see what the big guy knows.

Boba youre usually right on these things, but i really do hope youre wrong on #3, I really wanna see him restructure and retire a saint.

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

i hope david is in a backup role if he stays..
duece, what can i say.....i hate to see him go and i don't like the fact that reggie is not the gem many thought he was, not yet anyway.....
our backfield is worth what, close to 200 mil?
rick , i don't care about....
and please not a rb on the first pick.......
meachem, we'll see, wont we?
and colston is one of the few we should sign long term,
(brees better stop trying to get him killed over the middle.......)
now, can we get 2 first round picks for reggie?
or, i would'nt mind trading up for the running back from arkansas.....
with reggie in the trade....
and last, they are not gonna sign payton to a long term
contract yet, are they? smitty

Bobaganoosh 12-28-2007 01:59 PM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

Reggie Bush also has no trade value...his cap number would be out of this world for the Saints to try to trade him...so lets drop that...and there is close to zero percent chance that Deuce would restructure. He loves it here, he loves the city, he loves the team, but i dont think he loves some of the people in the front office...and i never said David would be starting, and i never said we would use a first round pick on a RB, i said a relatively high pick.
as far as meachem goes, i said it before i and i will say it again...the Saints knew going into the draft last year that Colston was the only WR that was under contract after this year...Henderson, Copper, Patten...all free agents, so he was the best player they had on their board and he made a ton of sense for the LONG TERM success of the franchise. He will certainly get his shot next year and i dont think we will be disappointed as he has worked his butt off and made huge strides this year.

WillMacKenzie 12-28-2007 02:17 PM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

So who's on the board as far as IMPACT defensive players?

And also, what about *cough* defensive coordinator?

hagan714 12-28-2007 06:24 PM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

-Rick Mueller will be fired.
Maybe and if so I would not be surprised.
-At least 3 assisstant coaches will be fired.
Let me guess. Secondary, special teams, WR.
-Deuce will be RELEASED! (He is 29, two major knee injuries, and makes a ton of money...all that equals ZERO TRADE VALUE so get that thought out of your minds now.)
Agreed if he doesn't redo the contract. 3 majoe knee operations is a killer.
-There will finally be an attempt to really overhaul the defense.
Got no choice. Renting defensive starter has not worked. I look for 2 young vets signed in FA and another one or two drafted. Major youth movement should start this year.
-Jason David will still be on the roster.
Yep pie on your face type of thing. I bet he will end up as our #3 by seasons end.
-Reggie Bush will be told to grow up, man up, and stop only thinking about himself.
Reggie never full recovers from the knee injury and is forced to slow down and gets his first 1000 yard rushing season
-Robert Meachem will be healthy and he will be the guy everyone talks about leading up to training camp and about how now things are like "Night and Day" when compared to his first year.
A year of watching and healing will do that for ya. I refuse to judge him till he hits the field. Saints will sign one other solid FA WR with upside.
-The Saints will draft yet another RB relatively high in the draft.
Bingo. I see the saints trading and getting in position for the pick no later than the end of the 3rd round.
-Marques Colston will get a long term deal from the Saints.
Kiss a couple vets goodbye and we will see what the future will look like for the team. He will not be the only contract extended.
-The Saints will be the odds on favorite to win the NFC South before camp starts.
That should not be hard considering that all the NFC teams will be in the running based on the draft and FA results.

Ok Bob lets get some info those OL we drafted. any going to hit the field next year as starters? That will tell us alot about how the FA and draft will go.

Bobaganoosh 12-28-2007 11:19 PM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

As far as the O-lineman go...i have heard that neither of them are ready. I dont know if that means they will be ready next year, or the year after or what...I do think they will be counted on, mainly Alleman, but that is not to say he is up to it. It is going to take a while for Bushrod but they are high on him...i think they expected Alleman to be closer than he is at this point.

hagan714 12-29-2007 05:16 AM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

cool. positive but disappointing. So I am not counting out an OL this year high in the draft. LT that is. Maybe the OG position in FA there should be one or two to tempt the faintest of heart. There is not a great group of OG in the draft, well to merit a day one pick. A few and thats it. OT is different. This could be the best group of OT we have seen in a long time or if ever in the draft. All depends on a couple of Jr.

RailBoss 12-29-2007 11:12 AM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

I hope they keep Stecker around, I know he is 32 years old but has some strong years left.
It might also be of interest to see what is shaking in Atlanta, they will probably clean house. I still think Hall is salvageable and can play for the right coach.

LongTimeFan 12-29-2007 11:56 AM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

I also think Deuce will be gone, both of his knees have been surgically repaired, with that said if the Saints wanted to trade him what would his value be? IMO we'll never see Deuce play for the Saints again.
As most of you know I'm a big Bush fan, I loved when the Saints drafted him, I was very high on him but I'm starting to think that he'll never be more than what he is right now, he's just not a power back who can carry the ball 20-30 times a game successfully but if we get another RB next season who can run the ball well as Deuce then Bush becomes a threat again but alone in the backfield just won't work.
I see Stecker remaining in N.O.

Champ Kind 12-29-2007 05:58 PM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

Bush, when he is healthy, is a great player. He may not be an every down RB but he does force defenses to focus on him. I would like to get the Forte kid from Tulane, maybe 2nd or 3rd round if we think Deuce won't return to form. Reminds me of Deuce. I just don't think Stecker or PT will be a force in the NFL, and I don't think we should settle for journeyman RB's.
I definitely think Gibbs should be gone yesterday

I don't see a problem with Gibbs or his play calling, it's just he doesn't have the right personal on the field..

Yeah all those players are the players he wanted? He got all the picks he wanted? Signed all the FA he wanted? Not really a stupid answer is it? Well to logical questions at least.

3. Duh.
4. Duh again.
5. But he won't be a starter.
6. He hasn't already?
7. What does this guy look like?
8. Refer to #3.
9. No s*%t!
10. I'll bet you that we're not.

I would agree that you have some information (or insight) sometimes that most of us don't, but you're going to have to come better then this Bob.

A prediction with inside information would be that we are going to trade Bush to the Patriots for Seymour, Watson, Samuel and Gay.

Now that's a prediction.

You think the Colts got everyone they wanted last year at the bottom of the draft? And they didn't have to replace about a hundred people on it?

They got a bunch of no names with speed and their defense is 3rd in the NFL.

*buzzer* What is...coaching? Right again for $500.

We could've no doubt drafted more defensive players, and no doubt drafted FASTER players. Payton decided we'd draft around "character", and look where that sorry trail has led us. I could hire a convent of Nuns with a ton of character, but could they stop Kyle Orton? Doubt it.

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

-Rick Mueller will be fired.
Wouldn't surprise me. Our scouting has been fairly hit or miss, usually miss.

-At least 3 assisstant coaches will be fired.
Also wouldn't surprise me; I'd say Gibbs and/or Vitt are likely candidates.

-Deuce will be RELEASED! (He is 29, two major knee injuries, and makes a ton of money...all that equals ZERO TRADE VALUE so get that thought out of your minds now.)
50-50 on that happening. Depends on his rehab and the RB situation come the offseason.

-There will finally be an attempt to really overhaul the defense.
God I hope so.

-Jason David will still be on the roster.
God I hope not.

-Reggie Bush will be told to grow up, man up, and stop only thinking about himself.
Hopefully he takes it to heart. It took Tiki Barber a couple years to put everything together, I'm not ready to write him off yet.

-Robert Meachem will be healthy and he will be the guy everyone talks about leading up to training camp and about how now things are like "Night and Day" when compared to his first year.
God I hope so; he may have been a good investment for the future but when guys like Posluszny, Houston, and Branch were all still on the board for that pick it's a hard pill to swallow and gets us to playing 'what if' with this season. I fear for the fact that he couldn't crack any spot in the lineup, then look at how Simoneau started 16 games and realize it's not such a big deal.

-The Saints will draft yet another RB relatively high in the draft.
God I hope not, but I completely see it happening. Bush, Stecker, and Thomas alone would be more than enough, but Payton just can't seem to get enough toys to play with so a big bruiser in the 2nd is highly likely. So will be another one of my broken remotes come draft day.

-Marques Colston will get a long term deal from the Saints.
If this doesn't happen I swear I will do a GTA style drive by on every single thing on Airline Drive.

-The Saints will be the odds on favorite to win the NFC South before camp starts.
Because that worked out so well for us this year...

I think you need to look at the colts defense again, No names? while your at it look at the picks used to draft those players. No names because they are just getting on the field in the NFL. But when most were drafted they were not no names. We are no where as deep as colts are. Dungy has been building the unit for a few years now, But he had a great offense when he signed on. Lets compare apples and oranges? Sean had diddle pooh when he got here

SoulStar 12-31-2007 12:28 PM

Re: Dont believe everything you read...

As for the colts drafting a bunch of no names this year and still having a really good def. Coaching is part of it, but Bob Sanders is a bigger part of it. With out him in the lineup any team can have a good amount of push on offense vs the colts def.

Bobaganoosh, thanks for the input and insight. Everything you said makes sense, and I pray to god we actually get a real middle linebacker.

I won't call any names or point any fingers at this point because you've already spoken for yourselves.

and by the way Papz I thought this board was for opinions and discussion, so what if I have a different opinion about everything or is there another reason for the board now, like a select few can post what they want. I was trying to get us somewhat back on topic and add some levity to the situation, and throw a joke out there. I know you guys jump on me for continuing to bring up Jeff Faine, so I was joking, although it is sometimes hard to tell via a forum.

Ok children this thread is getting a bit out hand. Boba said what he thought would happen. nothing more nothing less. If want to see more bring it up so maybe he can see if there maybe something to it later. For know this all he has. If he was more wrong than right in the past I could understand some of the comments but thats not the case. He has been more right than wrong. So throw out a few things you are wondering about and give him some time and he may find you answer. Till then I thank god we have some good info from him to draw an idea of the inner workings of the team. I am waiting for OL info myself. How about some of those draft choices? Stepping up or not.
As for the rebuttals please show a good example of how it should be done for those who need it. LOL come on joe maybe gone but the spirit will live on.

My wife could be her sister. My wife has lighter hair and maybe is a tad bit taller, and not quite as tan. The questions every man wonders is yes wifey's are at least that big. LOL

A buddy of mine saw her picture with the whole Tim Tebow's girlfriend thing and called me to tell me that my wife had bikini pictures on the internet. I got a kick out of it, it made me laugh, the girl in question's name is Lucy Pinder, she is a pin-up/nude/swimsuit model from the UK.
