This is going to be a big offseason for the franchise as a whole. I am going to predict the following things to happen before the summertime:
-Rick Mueller will be fired. -At least 3 assisstant coaches will be fired. -Deuce will be RELEASED! (He is 29, two major knee injuries, and makes a ton of money...all that equals ZERO TRADE VALUE so get that thought out of your minds now.) -There will finally be an attempt to really overhaul the defense. -Jason David will still be on the roster. -Reggie Bush will be told to grow up, man up, and stop only thinking about himself. -Robert Meachem will be healthy and he will be the guy everyone talks about leading up to training camp and about how now things are like "Night and Day" when compared to his first year. -The Saints will draft yet another RB relatively high in the draft. -Marques Colston will get a long term deal from the Saints. -The Saints will be the odds on favorite to win the NFC South before camp starts. Those are my 10 predictions for the Saints over the next 6 months...lets see what the big guy knows. |

Re: Dont believe everything you read...
i hope david is in a backup role if he stays..
duece, what can i say.....i hate to see him go and i don't like the fact that reggie is not the gem many thought he was, not yet anyway..... our backfield is worth what, close to 200 mil? rick , i don't care about.... and please not a rb on the first pick....... meachem, we'll see, wont we? and colston is one of the few we should sign long term, (brees better stop trying to get him killed over the middle.......) now, can we get 2 first round picks for reggie? or, i would'nt mind trading up for the running back from arkansas..... with reggie in the trade.... and last, they are not gonna sign payton to a long term contract yet, are they? smitty |

Re: Dont believe everything you read...
Reggie Bush also has no trade value...his cap number would be out of this world for the Saints to try to trade him...so lets drop that...and there is close to zero percent chance that Deuce would restructure. He loves it here, he loves the city, he loves the team, but i dont think he loves some of the people in the front office...and i never said David would be starting, and i never said we would use a first round pick on a RB, i said a relatively high pick.
as far as meachem goes, i said it before i and i will say it again...the Saints knew going into the draft last year that Colston was the only WR that was under contract after this year...Henderson, Copper, Patten...all free agents, so he was the best player they had on their board and he made a ton of sense for the LONG TERM success of the franchise. He will certainly get his shot next year and i dont think we will be disappointed as he has worked his butt off and made huge strides this year. |

Re: Dont believe everything you read...
So who's on the board as far as IMPACT defensive players?
And also, what about *cough* defensive coordinator? |

-Rick Mueller will be fired.
Maybe and if so I would not be surprised. -At least 3 assisstant coaches will be fired. Let me guess. Secondary, special teams, WR. -Deuce will be RELEASED! (He is 29, two major knee injuries, and makes a ton of money...all that equals ZERO TRADE VALUE so get that thought out of your minds now.) Agreed if he doesn't redo the contract. 3 majoe knee operations is a killer. -There will finally be an attempt to really overhaul the defense. Got no choice. Renting defensive starter has not worked. I look for 2 young vets signed in FA and another one or two drafted. Major youth movement should start this year. -Jason David will still be on the roster. Yep pie on your face type of thing. I bet he will end up as our #3 by seasons end. -Reggie Bush will be told to grow up, man up, and stop only thinking about himself. Reggie never full recovers from the knee injury and is forced to slow down and gets his first 1000 yard rushing season -Robert Meachem will be healthy and he will be the guy everyone talks about leading up to training camp and about how now things are like "Night and Day" when compared to his first year. A year of watching and healing will do that for ya. I refuse to judge him till he hits the field. Saints will sign one other solid FA WR with upside. -The Saints will draft yet another RB relatively high in the draft. Bingo. I see the saints trading and getting in position for the pick no later than the end of the 3rd round. -Marques Colston will get a long term deal from the Saints. Kiss a couple vets goodbye and we will see what the future will look like for the team. He will not be the only contract extended. -The Saints will be the odds on favorite to win the NFC South before camp starts. That should not be hard considering that all the NFC teams will be in the running based on the draft and FA results. Ok Bob lets get some info those OL we drafted. any going to hit the field next year as starters? That will tell us alot about how the FA and draft will go. |

Re: Dont believe everything you read...
As far as the O-lineman go...i have heard that neither of them are ready. I dont know if that means they will be ready next year, or the year after or what...I do think they will be counted on, mainly Alleman, but that is not to say he is up to it. It is going to take a while for Bushrod but they are high on him...i think they expected Alleman to be closer than he is at this point.

Re: Dont believe everything you read...
cool. positive but disappointing. So I am not counting out an OL this year high in the draft. LT that is. Maybe the OG position in FA there should be one or two to tempt the faintest of heart. There is not a great group of OG in the draft, well to merit a day one pick. A few and thats it. OT is different. This could be the best group of OT we have seen in a long time or if ever in the draft. All depends on a couple of Jr.

I hope they keep Stecker around, I know he is 32 years old but has some strong years left.
It might also be of interest to see what is shaking in Atlanta, they will probably clean house. I still think Hall is salvageable and can play for the right coach. |

Re: Dont believe everything you read...
I also think Deuce will be gone, both of his knees have been surgically repaired, with that said if the Saints wanted to trade him what would his value be? IMO we'll never see Deuce play for the Saints again.
As most of you know I'm a big Bush fan, I loved when the Saints drafted him, I was very high on him but I'm starting to think that he'll never be more than what he is right now, he's just not a power back who can carry the ball 20-30 times a game successfully but if we get another RB next season who can run the ball well as Deuce then Bush becomes a threat again but alone in the backfield just won't work. I see Stecker remaining in N.O. |
Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.
