Trade Bush?

We should still be able to get at least a good DT and CB (better than David) out of this deal, shouldn't we?

Come on guys and gals I would do this in heartbeat. Time to man or woman up or even cowboy up (but not like Broken Back Mountain) now that's funny right there!

THATS GOOD BUT THE ANSWER IS NO WAY.
Got enough questions at RB without adding to them

Re: Trade Bush?

I would so pull the trigger on a deal that would get us someone who can dominate a game. Reggie is nothing more than a business deal to sale jersay's. He is a returner, slow WR at best. We could do much better dealing him to another team.

You do know we are going to get blasted for these opinions? LOL.

Reggie hasn't been the one to win games, he hasn't carried us to a victory. He's a number 1 at RB and should already be making his mark. Our offense hasn't died since he's been injured. It won't be the end of the world losing him. The Viking parted ways with Moss and they are turning the corner and team overall is better.

LordOfEntropy 12-30-2007 11:51 AM

Re: Trade Bush?

But Moss did win that game last night against the Giants, with his 65 yard TD.

I think trading Bush would be crazy -- wouldn't trading him KILL us with cap hit?

Re: Trade Bush?

No, you don't trade Bush, you learn how to use him. He's not a featured back, he's a guy that stretches the field, changes the pace of the offense for a few plays, catches a few passes, and distracts the defense. Sure, we don't NEED him to win, but he sure is nice to have when he's being used right.

Something is wrong with you if you truly believe this, especially the part about him being slow. Wow.

Who said he's slow? If he stretches the field so much wheres all the big 20 yards plus plays??? and TD's???

He did do awfully well against Seattle. I re-watched that game last night, and he was on fire.

Dude, YOU said he's slow. To be exact you said "He is a returner, slow WR at best." And so what if he doesn't have a bunch of 20 yard plays? All you need is 10. And when do you expect him to get all of these TD's? Most of our TD's are from passes. We're a pass first team.

my bad I ment slot WR at best. 10 yards IS NOT stretching the field - 20 plus is stretching the field! I don't expect him to get all the TD's but get some geez.

You have to look at this and not put your heart in it. I know there are a lot of people who went out and bought the jersay and having him leave now wouldn't be cost effective to your pocket book having to go out and get a jersay of another player. You have to look at this from a football stand point.

Que? Of course my heart is in it. The Saints are my team. And yes my head thinks sometimes. When I put it all together, DO NOT TRADE BUSH unless we are getting an absolute full Pro-bowl TEAM. And that is pure fantasy.

You know we will be able to get something for him... maybe a Defense!

They're not going to trade Bush. It could screw their cap up and the guy has totally contributed to this team. This thread is ridiculous.

I look at the question as a hypothetical. Its fun to entertain the idea.

I agree, there are all kinds of possibilities, I just don't believe it will ever happen. What really screwed us this season were blunderesque off season moves like picking up Olindo Mare, drafting a WR in the first round rather than a corner, Jason David (nuff said).

We don't need another blunder, and trading Bush would go down as one of the biggest in NFL history, especially for a linebacker and corner... other GM's would go laughing to the bank on that one.

I think it would all depend on what we would get for him.

Trade Bush?? Trade Grant, He Has Dogged It All Game And Missed At Least 2 For Sure Sacks!!!!!

Re: Trade Bush?

Well I'm drunk (again) and angry (yet again). And I'm just THRILLED to say I traded my Reggie Bush jersey for nothing - that stinking jersey is now sitting in the bottom of my trash can, under emptied ashtrays, beer bottles, and some bacon drippings.

May he rot there.

Bear with me, I know I'm negative. I shouldn't even be logged in. But I'm drunk, and pissed. Rooting for this team is like carrying a sexual disease. And g'dammit, I've been rooting TOO LONG to be crapped on again and again, decade after decade. It's way past time they gave me a friggin' break. 40 years now.

Yes, some might think that this thread is ridiculous, but I don't think Bush is earning his money yet. Now that may happen next year or the year after or never. You don't know that either and other GM's maybe laughing at us for keeping him 10 years.

Is anyone entertained yet?

he's a girl that is more concerned with how many commercials he can make, unfortunately he has no trade value because of his contract ,so we will have to watch him avoid contact for a long time to come, Pierre is tough.... he should start

thats the problem you love him but he's bad for the team. He's a highly drafted return man.

We need to use him more like Hester than a RB.

I don't believe that RB's trade value is as high as some of us may believe.

Re: Trade Bush?

No way we trade Bush. He is an offensive weapon!!!!!!!!!!

WillMacKenzie 12-30-2007 05:18 PM

Re: Trade Bush?

Bush is as much of a weapon as Lance Moore. He just gets fed the ball about triple the amount anyone else does.

Just like a .50 caliber machine gun is a weapon - so is a sharpened paper clip in prison.

Bush is the paper clip, and fumbles more.

The best thing they can do with Reggie is pull him into the office and tell him face to face that he is not a running back, and his NEW position will be wide receiver and kick returner - so get used to it. The longer he is led on, the worse it is for this whole team.

Euphoria 12-30-2007 05:33 PM

Re: Trade Bush?

Now that is funny!

I think we need to use him like Hester and we are just going to have to eat the cost it was to get him.

We get of people like Reggie and "every down" running backs such Deuce will be on IR halfway through a season every year.

I'm really glad to see all of the different opinions and up to this point I thought I would become suicidal but we've made it through one more year of inconsistent saints football.

Hey and not to get more stuff stirred up but what was Haslett's record in season 2?

That's right 7 and 9 and his first season he made the playoffs, won a playoff game and went 10-6. Holy crap Batman Deja Who.

I'm taking bets right now that we go 9-7 next year!

Re: Trade Bush?

Bush is the icing on the cake. But what good is icing without a cake?

If we could trade him for a killer defensive player and a high draft choice, and not destroy our salary cap, I say go for it. We're OK at RB with Thomas, Stecker, and Branch. A healthy Deuce would be great, but not needed.

A team that wants to win can't afford a prima donna that is drawing the salary of 2 or 3 badly needed defensive players.

I have a feeling that Payton has had his fill of Reggie, and will be shopping him around.

LongTimeFan 12-31-2007 10:41 AM

Re: Trade Bush?

No way I trade Bush, give him a power back that can help him and he'll improve.
I bet if the Saints were to cut him today there would be 31 other teams who would fight tooth & nail to get him signed.
Some one said here that Bush was "slow" in the slot, he's not slow period, are you kidding me, the guy is quick.
As I said though before, I'm starting to wonder if he'll ever being a great RB but I'll say this, he's an all around good football player in the right set.

abutler 12-31-2007 11:31 AM

Re: Trade Bush?

Bush is one of the most naturally gifted athletes to ever take to the field. When you have a player that talented it is a hard fit into the normal scheme of football. I thought Sean Payton was the perfect man to incorporate Reggie into the scheme. I think things have been getting better with Reggie. I think Sean has been overwhelmed with his first time as head coach to focus on what he knows.

The Saints need to be overhauled, but cutting Reggie puts him against us. We don't want that! He's too special to let go. We can figure out how to use him.

Donuts32 12-31-2007 12:44 PM

Re: Trade Bush?

How can you let someone go when you havent used him right in the first place. Payton needs to use Reggie like the coaching staff at USC used him.

Euphoria 12-31-2007 04:44 PM

Re: Trade Bush?

He's draft value was overrated for a return man. Houston saw that.
