Ocho Cinco in black and gold
we Could use and explosive veteran reciever! Chad stated friday on sirius he did not expect to be back with the bengals, so if he is available do the saints go after him. If not, what reciever would we like to see compliment colston?
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
That would be intresting, but if the bengals want a 1st or 2nd round pick for him, then forget it.
Johnson Colston and Meecham....I think Bree's would have a dream season with those three. |
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
ocho cinco and hot sausage patten?? i like.

Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
I would have to say if Chad Johnson was to become available, at the right price, the Saints would need to jump all over it. I am not a big fan of his, and think he has the potential to be a big pain to deal with. However, after seeing what another big pain like Randy Moss did with New England, I think Johnson could do similar things for the Saints. Seriously though, I don't think Cincinnati is going to be dealing him off anytime soon.
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
Nah I would love to have it but NAH. I would rather spend our #1 on another WR first and keep the other picks.
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
I think he would be a great addition! All the drama that you are speaking of... like Moss and T.O. is not what you get from Chad he is a little excessive in his celebrations but he knows where to draw the line! (most of the time) I dont see this happening so I wont get my hopes up!
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
Chad would rather focus on Chad and the Saints have to focus on defense and molding an every-down back.

The Bengals are a perfect example of what happens with an explosive offense and very little defense. The Saints are similar. Frankly, for any free agent, draft pick, coach, or scheme, if it doesn't involve defense, then the Saints have absolutely no business wasting time working on it. The must be the offseason of defense, and only defense. SFIAH |
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
He'll probably end up in New England for a 4th round pick.
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
Bulk defense... we have some areas of need on offense also. A sure handed receiver and a reliable tightend. Both Miller and Johnson are upcoming free agents.
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
still tho we need another wr to go wit colston....patten is in the league another two years three at the most.....
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
There will be receivers available in the future. Right now, as SaintFan said, the focus should be on defense. We need DL, LB's, S, and CB SO MUCH MORE than we need additional receivers. Meacham might work out, Colston is a keeper, and Patten is fine for another year or two. So there will be time for receivers later.
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
Well if we wouldnt waste our time on garbage like J. David we wouldnt be in this situation! You cant loose focus of the offense because our D is hurting... You have to veiw it as a whole, make change as whole... Yes Chad may be a bit of distraction but he is undoubtly one the top recievers in the NFL! With Drew throwing to him and Colston they would cause problems for every seconday in the NFL. Just my .2 please dont beat up on me about it, I know I am new here;)
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
Having Johnson would be a dream come true. He can compliment Colston. I would love to see that happen.
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
Dont get me wrong, hes an awesome reciever but all the extra bs celebration and fines would look bad on the Saints as a team. I dont think Sean would put up with his antics.

We really don't need any more offensive firepower. Let's not forget that in the receiver corps that the 1st round, BPA pick, the Saints made still hasn't hit the field. All we need to do with receivers is let Henderson try out free agency, resign Patton, get Meachem ready to play, and secure a TE that can stay healthy. That's all. The defense is busted, broken, and battered. It needs to be fixed wholesale. Fixing the defense is the best thing anyone can do for the current Saints offense. Putting out a defense that can get off the field consistently will allow Payton, Colston, Bush, and Brees to continue their offensive excellence for quite a few years down the road. Fixing the defense will propel this team into the realm of consistent excellence. Nothing need be done to the offense. Fix the defense. Period. SFIAH |

Walker's a big baby... there's no need to bring him here. 2 of the last 3 years he's been injured and he's a "me" type of player.

Nothing needs to be fixed on offense? Um, where was all this praise for the offense the first four games of the season. WE HAVE NO SPEED AT WR THAT CAN CATCH. We saw what happened with our WR's when they were jammed at the line, not one of them had the moves or recovery speed to get beyond and open and Brees payed the price for it. If Johnson is not tagged and all we need is to pony up the money I am all for it. Maybe we can trade them J. David, Bullocks, some other crappy defensive player for him. Our offense is not perfect, good but not great. Speed kills and without speed you get killed. I love Colston but he does not have great speed, he needs someone opposite him that can draw some attention, and Patten and Henderson are not gonna cut it. Maybe Meachum will, but if not and no draft choices are required I say get C JOhnson. |

We cannot afford to deplete the offensive talent pool. We need to resign our own free agents or find suitable replacements. But augmenting the offense with blockbusters like Johnson before addressing the teams woeful defense? Not a chance. SFIAH |

Skip. this guy thinks he is bigger than the game. He is a great WR but I do not put him a locker room as a positive team leader. I would rather do a Ditka and trade away this year draft FOR Fitz from the cards than bring him aboard.

Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
I can't believe we're even arguing this. Everyone wants defense but keeps saying YEAH BUT...
"YEAH BUT if we had another receiver to complement Colston our offense would be the best!" We were 4th in offensive rankings this year and had such a great cast at wideout that our first round pick never even sniffed the field. They'll be even better next year as it is. "YEAH BUT if we had a good back the running game would work!" Pierre Thomas ripped apart the vaunted Monsters of the Midway, in their house, in the middle of December. If Deuce can't come back, we've already found his replacement. If Reggie actually puts it together, watch out. "YEAH BUT the offensive line sucks we need some toughness in there!" Brees was sacked the least of any quarterback this year: 15 times. That's less than one sack a game. When Reggie wasn't breakdancing in the backfield Aaron Stecker and PT were gashing opposing defenses and they aren't exactly household names. The simple facts: 1. If you wear the same color jersey Brees will find you; if we didn't have the most stone-handed receivers this side of Philly we wouldn't even be having this discussion. 2. We are quickly turning into Denver with our ability to plug in undrafted and journeymen RBs and watch them put up surprising numbers, and our offense isn't even based on rushing. 3. We have a very solid line, most of whom are young, with room to get better and tons of depth behind them. Stinchcomb walks? Bushrod or Strief takes his spot. Nesbit finally falls off? Alleman gets his chance to be a monster. 4. Chad Johnson is a crybaby prima donna who is going to hurt the team more than help. Even if we needed more help at wideout, there's no way any of us should support that move. And most importantly... 5. New York just beat the living snot out of the most acclaimed offensive group in living memory with a vicious front seven, a good scheme, and sheer willpower. I'm not sure about you guys, but while I don't mind having records if we won the Superbowl I could die happy. |

If wish we could work the same magic that NE's front office did to get Moss for a 4th round pick to get Chad.

Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
No way CJ would come to NO and be a number 2. Would I want him, YES! Would he be a distraction, HECK YES! He is to "me, Me, ME!!!" Thanks for the thought, but I'll pass.

Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
if Sedrick Ellis/any of our ideal defensive players aren't their at #10 overall we should get Chad Johnson with the pick.
he's not a cancer like you guys are saying. you can't actually find anything bad about the guy. he talks trash. he puts on a show. but he's actually a great guy and a great team mate. well, is the 1st pick too much? maybe a 2nd round pick and some other stuff. lol. |
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
if Chad Johnson played for our saints last year....he quits by the 3rd game and cries the rest of the season. that kind of attitude is what I call a "cancer". he is always running his mouth, talking trash, in the news and even caught on the sideline hollering at his QB...un-acceptable! he is very good and can be exciting. i do like to watch him play as long as he is in another jersey.
i am convinced we need to stick with all defense FA this year. we do have a very good offense in place with an offensive minded coach. that side of the ball will be fine. |
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
am i the only one that DID NOT appreciate the HOF jacket (picture above) celebration?? I didnt even crack a smile after that play
|
Re: Ocho Cinco in black and gold
One of the lamest celebrations I've ever seen. You can at least laugh at the corny ones... that wasn't even corny.
