Congrats to Marques Colston

Congrats to Marques Colston
In the first season that Joe Horn was not a member of this franchise, he quietly (compared to Horn) went out and broke Horn's club record for receptions and tied him in touchdowns. The biggest thing Colston ever did after scoring a touchdown was slam it to the ground after having just dropped a previous touchdown pass a couple plays earlier (it was the Seattle game).

Colston:
16 games played, 98 catches, over 1,202 yards, 11 touchdowns, over 59 catches for first downs.

Horn:
12 games played, 27 catches, 243 yards, 1 touchdown (final game of season), 14 first downs.

And this is not meant to be an attack on Horn. Look, I own a Joe Horn jersey and I was not only proud to purchase it but I am still proud to own it. I plan to frame it if the guy retires before making anymore stupid comments, but the fact is that Colston is quickly on his way to far exceeding what Joe Horn did here in New Orleans. We have not had a receiver like Colston in this franchise's history and that includes Eric Martin.

It's pretty amazing when you consider that potentially we have our best QB, best RB (Deuce) and best WR all on the franchise at the same time with one guy at the end of his prime, another in the middle/entering (Brees) and the third just finishing his second season.

Congrats to #12, well done, well done

Re: Congrats to Marques Colston

Colston has played lights out and should continue to get even better. As for comparisons, Horn is an old veteran player on the way out, Colston is young and up and coming. I think if you take Horn in his prime years with the Saints, the numbers are fairly even. Colston does have size advantage, Horn maybe a little more speed during his prime years. Colston also has the added benefit of having Drew Brees throwing him the ball, compared to what Horn had in a far less accurate QB in Aaron Brooks.

It's a shame that Colston got beat up so bad at the end of the season, I would love to have seen him blow by the 100 reception mark.

Re: Congrats to Marques Colston

The last to games proves he can not do it on his own and our #3,4 and 5 WR are not good enough. We know Meachem needs to step up net year. Patton did well but he is 34 in 2008. The rest can be replaced and not missed. A coaches favorite will stay. The rest have not proved they belong.
