Re: Draft predicitons???
No predictions or specific suggestions, just please bring in some defense! Being at the 10 spots should get the Saints a serious player. If the Saints have a good defensive draft, maybe midway through 2008 they can start to think about actually stopping an opponent. Teams do not consistently get away with outscoring the other team these days...

Re: Draft predicitons???
You really can't effectively talk about the draft until free agency is over. The FA you secure will determine the direction of the draft because unless it's a best player available situation, the team is unlikely to double up on a selection.
So I'll spend a minute talking about free agents. There are two that will be available if you show them the money. LB Lance Briggs and CB Asante Samuel. Both fill areas of deep need for the Saints, both a studs at their position, and both are guaranteed not to be franchised. However both are going to want seriously top flight money after being held up on their current teams for an extra year. Albert Haynesworth unfortunately will not be available because the Titans will have to franchise him. Maybe we could get him for this year's #1 and a #3 next year? I hear that the Jets may be willing to trade LB Jonathan Vilma. May be worth the investment. In free agency we need to secure personnel that can transcend bad scheme and bad plays. Unfortunately I don't think Payton is willing to let Gibbs go, or require Gibbs to come up with a defensive gameplan that actually works. So whomever we get, unlike J David, has to be able to erase mistakes out on the field, not create more. I'd like to see a minimum of one impact player at each level of the defense. We can then consider drafting a second impact player at each level. Also we need to get our current players that we've already drafted (like U. Young) ready to step up for next year. SFIAH |

1 James Laurinaitis, ILB, OSU Jr, 6-3, 244
2 Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College, 6-7, 319 3 Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State, 6-2, 182, 4.42 4. William Moore, FS, Missouri, 6-1, 212, 4.48 Who knows the rest just yet. As it is I am reaching. LOL A CB and one OLB will be added in FA not MLB. I hope not. The pick ens are very thing in FA right now. maybe OG in FA also. http://blackandgold.com/forums/new-o...aft-draft.html |

Re: Draft predicitons???
1st round - Kenny Phillips, Miami, Safety, 6'2", 202 lbs and his 40 time 4.40. Big and fast.
2nd round - Dre Moore, Maryland, DT, he's 6'4", 300 lbs and his 40 time is 4.82. 3rd round - Matt Forte, Tulane, RB, 6'1", 225 lbs and his 40 time 4.50. 4th round - David Vobora, Idaho, OLB, 6'1", 240 lbs, 4.51 in the 40 or Bo Ruud, Nebraska, OLB, 6'3", 235 lbs, 40 time 4.62. Brother of Barrett. 5th round - Andy Studebaker, Wheaton, OLB, 6'3", 245 lbs, 40 time 4.49. 6th round - Alexis Serna, Oregon State, K, 5'8", 170 lbs, made 22 or 29 in 2006, making 4-of-6 from beyond 50 yards with a long of 58. 7th round - Terrell Vinson, Purdue, CB, 5'9", 183 lbs, 40 time 4.43. and if we trade back a couple of spots and still land Phillips we'll probably get another 2nd or 3rd rounder out of the deal. Come on with the critique's, but bring your draft too and lets get a draft contest together for the Saints picks only. 5 points for each pick you get correct. Winner gets bragging rights at least until next years draft. |

Re: Draft predicitons???
OMG what if we had Bob Sanders from the Colts. He to me is the best defensive back in the NFL. That dude is all over the field. I also like Palmalu or however you spell it from the Steelers. I know we could never get these guys but hopefully we can pick up some studs in the draft that can play close to their calibur..

Re: Draft predicitons???
We are going to have to pickup a middle line backer in the draft. No one is going to get cut, and there are a small amount bound to hit the free agent market this upcoming season.
