Saints look over wasted season
SunHerald.com : Saints look over wasted season
New Orleans holds the No. 10 overall pick in the 2008 draft and defense will be the likely emphasis. The Saints also have plenty of money to spend since they are more than $30 million below the salary cap. Defensive tackle Brian Young and middle linebacker Mark Simoneau are two of the more notable free agents. The possibility of either player returning is up in the air. Obvious help in the secondary is necessary, and Mike McKenzie's knee may not be at full speed to start next season. |

Re: Saints look over wasted season
At least the Saints do have the cap space to get things turned around. Even with the Saints history, I would imagine the current situation with the Saints has to be a real positive for potential free agents. All free agents want to score a big check, but no one wants to be part of a bad situation or team. Saints have the potential to take care of business. A lot of folks may question if Benson will allow the wallet to open, I don't have any doubt that he is willing to spend the money on quality players. Now he may make that player eat at Burger King on road games, but... LOL
I personally don't think Young or Simoneau will be back. The Saints probably need 5 new starters on defense, both guys probably fall in that number. |
