can you imagine the numbers this defense would have given up if we didnt have a half way good offense....scary stuff!

Not so scary, if the offense was not very good, the defensive numbers would have not looked so bad. The reason is opposing teams would have gone more conservative. That was a point I was trying to make to folks about the Raiders of 06. People thought they had a halfway decent defense in that 2-14 season, I pointed out that the offense was so bad teams did not take many chances. The Saints can score quick and in bunches, so teams had to take more shots against the Saints defense, and it was really bad. Amazing how stats can sometimes be misleading...

I believe our D is only a handful of players (4) away from being a solid (top 10) unit. Gibbs should pan out.

about 1 TD out of every 100 - 3 and outs.

I guess that's what you get when you throw the ball so much.

No, I don't agree. I think you're being harder on them than they deserve. There were many, many 8+ minute drives this year. I think the offense is fine. Put a half-respectable defense next to them, and we're in the playoffs.

Put a good defense next to them - and we could be in the Superbowl.

agreed! We are capable of scoring 17 points against great teams but when you give up 30 against even poor teams we stink! We lose. We need a plan/a scheme and the one currently deployed by GIBBS SUCKS doesn't work in High school, didn't work in College and isn't working in the pro's. Is there a reason why Gibbs left Dallas and suddenly the D got better???

Geez anyone would be an improvement over Gibbs he doesn't get it. Its not D he is playing its something else that just doesn't work.

When your system is called "BEND DON'T BREAK" Its you. Good coaches work with what they have and try and make something out of nothing... bend don't break???

What about when a coach doesn't have much to "work with"... Seems like "bend don't break" was more optimism than realism. I'd like to see what happens when the coaches have the talent in place (and don't tell me there's talent there now)
