My gut says that the Saints are going to draft Keith Rivers. The only concern I have is when there are two highly rated LB's on the same team, you have to wonder if they are benefiting significantly from playing with one another. Who is feeding off of whom? You have to wonder if there will be a drop-off when the two are seperated.

Last night was a perfect example of why I don't want Laurinaitis. He disappears in big games, just like he did in last year's championship. He can't play with ultra athletic teams.

rest assured, we won't address the linebacker situation. we haven't in the past 2 drafts, why would they start now.

Watch, this is what's going to happen: McFadden will have a poor showing at the combine and will somehow fall all the way to the 10th spot in the draft. At which point, the Saint's will draft him as the best player available, rather than going after a CB or a LB that we need.

I don't know if you guys are aware, but Laurinaitis set the record with the most tackles of any BCS championship game. I thought he played pretty well, against a very respectable offense.

... that's just a stat. So he made more tackles than anyone else. Where were these tackles made? How many were run stuffers? Sacks? The Saints already have a couple LBs who can tackle after 12 yd gains. They don't need another.
And he can't pass cover worth crap. Maybe against the cream puffs OSU plays year in and year out he looked great, but against LSU, he looked lost in pass coverage, average at best in run support, and with no sideline to sideline range. Maybe is because LSU has speed, but if he can't handle that speed in college, how can you expect him to handle speed in the NFL?

'Cause the simple man pays the thrills, the bills and the pills that kill

Agreed T-R. The guy is a solid player, but I was actually watching him every chance I could, and he didn't make any big plays. He made a lot of tackles, but a lot of them were downfield. Not saying he's not good, but I'd rather see us go after a guy with more athleticism.

I was not overly impressed by him either. But all in all he played solid. He and the Buckeyes never really had that many chances to be overly aggressive in that game. He was playing deep almost all night. Kinda like a safety valve. If he got caught up in the line back wash the game would have been a complete blow out. He is still top 15 talent and he is just a Jr.
