Rating the Saints draft picks so far
Rating the Saints draft picks so far 08/07/2003 Jim Henderson / WWL-TV Sports Director As the Saints passed the halfway mark of training camp, Director of Player Personnel Rick Mueller gave a thumbnail assessment of each of the team’s picks. (1) Johnathan Sullivan has been good. He’s shown signs that we saw on film He definitely has the quickness and explosiveness and he just needs to be able to improve his consistency and he’s done that in practice. WWL-TV (2) Jon Stinchcomb – we have him doing a lot of things. He’s played right tackle, left tackle and he’s even played guard. Things are settling in for him. (3) Cie Grant – incomplete. He hasn’t worked enough due to a nagging hamstring injury. (4) Montrae Holland has been impressive. He’s really been the most impressive of all of the picks so far. He’s played both guard positions, done a fine job and picked up the offense. (5) Melvin Williams is a kid coming off of a knee injury and he’s only been working for two to three days. He’s doing a nice job. You see some of the things we saw in film when he’s healthy. (6) Kareem Kelly has been really good. He’s got a lot of speed and a lot of talent. He’s very quick. He’s had some injuries early. He missed some time, but the last four-five days he’s shown progress. (7) Talman Gardner has got to be a little more consistent than he has been, but he certainly has the talent and ability. http://www.wwltv.com/sports/saints/W...10627e8cd.html |
