Saints to play overseas?
he Bucs have confirmed they are one of four teams to have been approached by the NFL about possibly playing in the United Kingdom this fall, an opportunity Tampa Bay would welcome.
The other candidates, according to ESPN, are the Saints, Chiefs and Seahawks The league reportedly wants a high-scoring, exciting game (i.e., something other than last year's snooze fest), and the opponents will be announced on the Friday before the Super Bowl. Pats-Seahawks or Chargers-Saints would be the best matchups, if the goal is to see lots of points scored. ProFootballTalk.com -- The Best Pro Football Scoop on the Internet |

Re: Saints to play overseas?
I would like it but it will be impossible to get tickets, again. And almost certanly cheaper to go to New Orleans and watch a game again. The price of flying to USA from sweden or flying to GB doesn't differ much.

Re: Saints to play overseas?
I would be upset if the Saints lost one home game.
But it would be nice if it was a road game |

Re: Saints to play overseas?
Overall, I do not like the idea at all. I too wouldn't be thrilled with losing a home game, but overall, the Saints haven't exactly played their best football at home, so that part is not really a big deal. I agree, that a bye week after that game would be in the best interest of the Saints. If the NFL wants to keep doing this, they really need to remove a pre-season game and add make the regular schedule into 17 games. Then they could let each team play a game out of the country.

Re: Saints to play overseas?
Last year both the Giants and the Dolphins had a bye week following the trip to the UK. I believe that is SOP in all of these games.
I don't want to see the Saints lose a home game and the revenue generated by a home game. We still need all the help we can get. I wonder if Benson would drop season ticket prices by one game if we went overseas? (doubt it) I also want to see the Chargers come here so I can verbally jab with Rivers knowing he is into it as well. Sounds like fun. "Bring out the Gimp!!!!" |
