A trade scenerio
THE SAINTS DON'T HAVE ENOUGH, BUT...
Depending on the coin flip... Atlanta could have the No. 3 pick in the draft. It could aslo be Oakland or KC... IF the order came out... KC, ATL, OAK and you were the San Diego Chargers... Would you: Offer RB Ladanian Tomlinson plus your 1st round pick in the '09 draft to ATL, for the No. 4 overall pick in '08 and ATL's no. 2 in '09? With the No. 4 pick you then select Darren McFadden, and start Michael Turner in 2008. All the while slowly easing DMac in a la the MIN Chester Taylor - Adrian Peterson model from this season. It's likely the Raiders could select McFadden with their first pick, so they likely would ask for more ot trade down. STL needs a high profile D-Lineman and coudln't afford to pick in the high 20's, plus they don't need LT... Neither does KC... This way, SD has fresh legs in the backfield... and still own their other 1st round pick. And have enough offensive fire power to make a run at a Super Bowl... IMO, Terrell Davis is the only example of a RB leading a team to the SB title (In the modern era). Maybe Marshall Faulk... Anyway, in each case the team's had MVP caliber QB's directing the. While I dno't think P. Rivers is clsoe to Elway or Warner (in his prime) The SD defense and a solid offense under Norv Turner, makes the Chargers a SB contender with or without LT. What do you think? |

Re: A trade scenerio
OK dude, that gave me a headache. If I read this correctly, the answer is no. I would not trade Ladanian Tomlinson under any circumstances, if I was San Diego.

I guess short-sigthed-ness is to be expected...
LT is going into his 8th year... Will be 29 next year... And hasn't won SD anything... |

Re: A trade scenerio
Hey if the Colts could trade Marshall Faulk and Edge James in their primes... it could happen. I couldn't see it happening but stranger things have happened.
LT is a player you build around. If the Chargers want to win a Superbowl, they'll need to lean on their franchise back. The Colts had their offense running through their HOF quarterback... therefore making their backs dealable. Now if Rivers can show some kind of consistency, which he hasn't, then maybe. LT is the Chargers. |
