Leodis Mckelvin

Leodis Mckelvin

Was watching the Senior Bowl Practice and this guy has got skills. If he could catch he would be really good. Not sure if he would be worthy of a top ten pick

I wouldn't mind having him if some of the other top defensive guys were gone.

I saw the same thing Q... He'll be gone by our pick in the second.

He's shooting up those draft boards... been hearing nothing but good things about this kid.

Re: Leodis Mckelvin

LSU CB Chevis Jackson continues to impress. He is consistently in the hip pocket of the South wide receivers, and he has a thicker body with good strength to battle through the routes or to come up and play the run. Jackson is aggressive and will hit. Even Avery, possibly the fastest prospect in the 2008 class, was not able to escape Jackson today. These Senior Bowl practices have been great for Jackson's stock.

what about Chevis, he been looking good too. second round pick

We may have to trade-up in the 2nd round to get him.
I'd gladly do it.

We pick pretty high in the second round... I'm sure he'll still be there. His speed is going to dictate how high he goes. And with a 4.6 40, he'll probably be a late second rounder unless a cover 2 system decides to snatch him up first. Hopefully he has can get his time into the 4.5s... he definately possess solid man skills.

I think Jackson would be a great pickup, but I also think he'll be around in the 3rd. With a deep LB class, I think we could get a really good pick in the 2nd at LB.

Re: Leodis Mckelvin

If we have the same starting LB's next season, everybody needs to be fired.

I still like young. Watch him next year. He will be solid. He had a lot of learning to do and was held back by injury.

As for Mckelvin I want to see what he can do in the game and at the combine. He might be an upper third rounder. Can you say hyped? lets see.

Alright Missile... you've harped on this Young kid too much. He was a rookie last year who had limited playing time other than ST bc we had two big $$ starting CB's out there. On ST punts, ever notice who the first guy was in front of the receiver EVERY TIME??? U Young. He is raw, talented, hard working and from a development standpoint, is continuing to make big strides. :moan:

Coaches love this kid for who he will be. So, like Meach, I think we all reserve judgment until he's actually playing in his role. :handguns:

Do you even know who he played against this season?

Quote:

Rowell said McKelvin's performance in Troy's upset win over Oklahoma State at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium was the game that caught the attention of many NFL scouts. In that game, he had seven solo tackles, forced a fumble, broke up three passes and had one tackle for a loss on defense. He also returned five punts for 135 yards and one touchdown.

McKelvin seemed to play his best against Troy's toughest opponents. Against Arkansas, he had nine tackles (seven solos) and five kickoff returns for 127 yards. Against Florida, he picked up six unassisted tackles and had seven kickoff returns for 134 yards. He added seven unassisted tackles and 121 yards on six kickoff returns against Georgia.

Young will be fine. Just needs a little coaching.

I think I'll pass on "McLovin" until we see some combine info.
